My dad told me to dress in nice attire like a cute dress and a nice pair of sandals to match.

I wore neither of those things and instead dressed in comfortable clothes that still made me look good but were also casual at the same time. I wasn't an owner of dresses as much as the next girl. Not that I didn't like them, I just chose not to wear them.

I left my hair as it was and did my other hygiene activities. Once that was taken care of, I met my dad in the living room where he stood in wrinkle-free clothes. His cologne smelled of caramel and apple spice. It surprised me that the man took his good time to look good. Mr.Membrane must be dad's boss if he wanted to make this good of an impression.

He noticed my figure by the couch as he stared at himself in the wall mirror. He stepped away from his reflection. "Are you good to go, honey?"

"Yeah. You look nice." I said, stuffing my hands in my jacket pocket. I was internally dreading the idea of going to the Membranes' house considering that I practically ditched them.

It wasn't their fault and by avoiding them, my guilt would go on until I decided to solve it. Maybe this dinner would actually help. Yet, my anxiety chained those hopeful thoughts and got rid of the keys. It crept all around me creating images of Dib and Gaz's faces full of annoyance.

"Okay kiddo, let's get going!" Dad said. He grabbed his coat and opened the door. I made sure to lock it after closing it behind me. We made our way into the car and during the whole car ride, my stomach kept doing flips, it may have participated in the Olympics.

"Welcome to my lovely abode, fellow employee and employee's daughter." Professor Membrane greeted. He invited us in his home with a peppy tone.

The man's face was covered by his long lab coat and his eyes were shielded behind goggles. His hair was similar to Dib's, except longer.

"These are my offspring and my greatest creations." His children stood beside the man.
"My girl child, Gazlene." He placed a hand on top of Gaz's head, "-and my boy child, Dib."

My dad gave the two a nod. He turned to me with a loving smile and ruffled my hair, "This is my beautiful daughter, (Name)."

I looked away with an embarrassed blush. I swear it's like he knows how to make things awkward for me. I turned back to Dib and Gaz. I wasn't surprised to see Gaz on her DS and as for Dib, he simply smiled at me.

"Oh, I see friendship sparks flying. Now let's go eat!" Professor Membrane exclaimed.

He lead us into the kitchen where a variety of different foods were nicely made. I tuned out most of the conversations, but I couldn't ignore the occasional glances from Dib.
