"So what now? I know that making up wasn't your main reason for being here." You crossed your arms.

"Tak. She's not who she portrays herself to be." He started, prompting you to roll your eyes. You knew this already.

"Of course. Now tell me something I don't already know." You yawned.

"There was a reason why she wanted me to go with her to the cave. It wasn't because she was looking for a fun time or to bond over. She needed me for a specific reason." Dib's smile faltered as he saw the real truth.

"This crystal you were trying to warn us about, she has it and I know she doesn't want because of how pretty it looks. She needed it because of it's power." He continued.

You furrowed your brows, nodding slowly.

"She knew what exactly to do. Tak is clever, she played the part of a nice girl. Someone who people liked naturally."

At this point, Dib was pacing back and forth.

"Those candies she gave out to win people over, they weren't real candies. They were special chocolates that she made because it would aid her later. And it is. Her necklace and me were her last step to the final phase." He gasped.

"I ate those!" You scowled. Then you gasped, "Which is why I was briefly tolerating her."

You thought back to her first appearance at the club meeting and how close and affectionate she was to you. It wasn't because she tried to make a first impression, it was to make an imprint. She wanted you to remember her. Her smell, touch, smile.

She was trying to groom you. With subtle interactions, there would be room for bigger efforts. You hated to admit that she almost had you. This girl knew what to do and how to do it. Seduction was a skill she must've practiced very well.

"She couldn't get to me." You said outloud. "That's why she went to you because you were already in her presence."

"Yeah." His frown depended.

This struck an unsettling feeling in him. He was sad because of her false affections for him. He was a toy, a puppet for Tak to play with. Dib didn't have any romantic feelings for her, that wasn't the problem. It was that he was forced to feel something he didn't want to. It disgusted him.

"Even before she had the necklace, did you like her?" You asked with a hint of jealousy.

"I don't know." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I liked her style?" His statement trailing off as a question. "Either way, it was all fake and I'm glad nothing I felt was real."

You caught yourself feeling relieved at his answer. He didn't exactly like her in a deeper way as you previously thought. It was the crystal that Tak had that was the cause of his affections for her. He was merely attracted to her because of her beauty as were you somewhat. Was there a chance for then?
