^Her father back then.

I processed Ryuko's words, gazing at the new woman before me blankly.

My mother...

After a few seconds I approached the woman causing her eyes to widen slightly, a relieved expression on her face.

"Listen Izanami, I know this is overwhelming but I—" However the woman cut herself off as the silver haired teen walked past her towards the door, not sparing her a glance.

"Izanami." Ryuko's stern voice made me halt in my steps as I reached the door. "I know it was wrong of me to keep something such as this hidden from you for this long but your mother wanted to wait until the right time to meet you and it's not like we had he that kind of relationship we have now when we first met where I could drop something like this on you.
Once I had realized your uncanny resemblance to her, she came as fast as she could to see yo—" But it seems her explanation fell flat as the girl reached to open the door to leave.

"Izanami, do not ignore me." Ryuko ordered, her eyes flashing with frustration and she raised voice louder then normal. This tone made the girl halt once more. However, Ryuko stiffened as the the girls head turned, her stoic crimson orbs almost glaring into the dragon heroes eyes. This was the first time the girl had ever looked at her with such hostility.

"Do not speak to me as if you are my mother." Asuna's own crimson eyes falter as the teens glare shifted to her own. "As far as I'm concerned, I don't have a mother. She's dead." And with that the girl left the heroes office.

Ryuko's eyes faltered at the slamming of her door. She tried not to let what the young girl had said prior affect her knowing this was a tough thing to expose. "Gomen...give her some time to wrap her head around things...this isn't exactly easy considering..."

"When I was younger...my father had said that my mother had left us for the skies after I was born. I never really understood it till I grew older and realized that it was just a naive explanation for death."

"You don't seem to bothered by it? Everyone at some point longs for the warmth of a mother..."

"I guess...I could just never manage to long for someone who wasn't there...Besides...I'd rather her be up there than down here because least I know she didn't leave us by choice."

"I know..." Asuna murmured knowing she had a lot of explaining to do to excuse for the 15 years of absence from her daughters life. "Thank you, Ryuko but I believe it's my responsibility from now on to fix this."

The dragon hero nodded in understanding, watching the woman leave. Turning to her window, she sighed heavily hoping the truth would alleviate some of the stress from Izanami and she wouldn't feel alone anymore.
Izanamis father was missing and she had no other know relatives. During their patrols she had once caught Izanami gazing longingly at a mother soothing her crying daughter. Even if Izanami wouldn't admit it, Izanami needed an adult female figure in her life, someone she'd listen to. She needed a mother.

I shoved my hands in my pockets, tuning out the city life around me as I made my ways back to the campus dorms.

"I-Izanami!" A voice called out her name making the girl stiffen with a small scowl.

Just ignore her.

"Izanami!" My scowl deepened as I could sense the woman looking pushing through the crowd to reach me, making a scene. "Izanami, please I just want to talk—"
