Pen Name: Willow Jane

Username :    WillowJane

Is your pen name your legal name? If no, then how did you make up one?

It's not! I always wanted to write under a pseudonym to keep my writing life separate from my personal life. I came up with Willow Jane at thirteen, when I first started writing. I knew I wanted it to be two first names and I wanted it to be unique and memorable. I'm not sure where exactly "Willow Jane" came from, but it's stuck ever since.

How many books have you published till date?

On Wattpad, I've published one novel and one short story. I've published a few fanfictions on other sites, as well, but let's not talk about those.

What are your future projects?

I'm working on short stories and novellas that are spin offs for my Wattpad novel, Alpha Alexander. But I'm mostly focusing on editing Alpha Alexander for possible print publication.

What is writing to you?

Toni Morrison has a quote that resonates with me every time I start a new story: "If there is a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, you must be the one to write it." There are so many stories I want to read, but no one has written about them, so I take on that responsibility. That's why I write—to tell stories other people want to hear.

Is being an author, your long time dream or a hidden passion you found out later?

It's always been the dream to live off my writing. I've know this since I was 9 or 10.

What genre books you like to work on?

New adult fantasy.

If we challenge you to write a book of another genre we suggest, then would you take it up?

I could give it a try—no promises, though.

Then we would love to read a Paranormal Adventure book from you soon.

Writing is a reality that paints a beautiful fantasy. What do you think are the charms of writing fiction/non fictional books?

I love creating my own world, one that I know every detail of, and then inviting other people into my world by publishing my writing. I love being able to introduce people to new ideas and plot lines and surprising them with every chapter.

Who are your favorite authors in and out of wattpad?

I love JeanineCroft on Wattpad. She tells the most beautiful stories and her writing style is so unique. Highly recommend her work. Outside of Wattpad, I love urban fantasy authors, like Patricia Briggs and Richelle Mead. Two authors actually got me into writing fantasy: Amelia Atwater Rhodes and Annette Curtis Klause.

Name few of your close wattpad friends.

I honestly don't have very many people on Wattpad I'd call a friend, necessarily.

What is your favorite series you have recently watched or read?

I just started reading the Outlander series! I'm excited to finish the novels and start watching the show.

Who is your favorite actor/actress?

I love Octavia Spencer. If she's in the movie, you bet I'm gonna watch it. I also love Alexander Skarsgard—he's so beautiful.

Who is your favorite Villain you couldn't help but love?

Draco Malfoy. That boy was beautiful and broken and all I wanted to do was hug him the whole time I read Harry Potter.

What are your hobbies other than writing and reading?

I love to try new restaurants and go see horror movies in theater. I also love crafting—scrapbooks and bullet journals, mostly.

What are your hidden talents?

I can open a beer bottle with my teeth. College, man.

Who is your first celebrity crush?

Justin Timberlake. Those curly frosted tips got me swooning at the age of four.

What is the most embarrassing situation that you have ever been through?

There are PLENTY, but I've learned to not let my embarrassment over something that happened years ago to hang over me.

One craziest thing you have ever done?

Drive 12+ hours to surprise my mom for spring break junior year of college.

There are many authors who just started their journey and many readers who want to write but has no courage to do so. Please give them a tip and a word of encouragement.

JUST START WRITING. It's gonna sound awful and make no sense, but that's okay. You're going to rewrite something a dozen times and it still won't be absolutely perfect. Go to Barnes and Noble (or amazon.com) and look up writing prompts books to help get your creative juices flowing. Take courses on creative writing, if you can. Give your writing to others for feedback. Don't be afraid to share your work.

Last but not the least, have you ever dreamt of writing your own comic?

I've written a comic for a creative writing class in college, but it sucked and I never want to do it again.
