ELLA STOOD IN silence when Michonne broke the news that Glenn, Yasmin and Nicholas were separated from everyone else because of the herd of walkers that went their way. Glenn wanted to light a damn fire to draw the walkers away from the town and they took Nicholas. The fire was never lit though. She could tell Michonne felt awful. Ella and Michonne both knew that if Glenn and Yasmine didn't make it back, Nicholas probably got them both killed. It was a dumb decision to take him along after everything Nicholas put them through. He got Noah killed. He fucked up multiple times during his runs. He's been attempting to murder Glenn because Glenn forbad him from going outside the walls.

Nicholas was a fucked up person. The longer they stood there, the more Ella dreaded the fact that Glenn was dead and she couldn't save him like he saved her many times before. She hated not knowing if Glenn was alive or not. She hated that she couldn't do anything because if she went out to find him, she could get herself killed or she could find his corpse being feasted upon by walkers. She knew that she had to just wait until the walkers separated a bit more within the town.

Why did it have to be him? Why couldn't they just all go together? Why did they even take Nicholas in the first place anyway? He was such a bad person, Ella thought to herself.

"He did tell me though," Michonne spoke up. Ella looked at her. "That if he got stuck, he would find a way to send us a signal."

"A signal?" Ella whispered. She looked at the ground. He could have sent a million different signals by now if he did get stuck and they probably didn't even notice. Hell, he could send one in an hour and no one would notice. The signals he would send would be so vague and something that could be easily missed. He was a creative guy, but sometimes when his life was in danger, he couldn't think straight. Like ever. But she was going to have to keep an eye out for anything that could be a signal or else she would go crazy. "A signal." Ella repeated to herself.

Maggie rubbed Ella's back in a comforting way, her arms linked with one of Ella's arms. She felt for Ella for Brandon hadn't made it back from where Rick ordered him and Gerard to go to help direct the herd. She didn't know how to feel either. It was a numb feeling knowing that they were safe inside the town while they were out there fighting for their lives. It was nauseating, too, honestly.

"Open the gate!" a voice echoed.

Ella furrowed her eyebrows, glancing at the gate. Maggie turned to look at the gate as well. "Did you hear that?" Maggie asked.

The voice repeated itself. "Open the gate!" it screamed.

"It's Rick!" Michonne yelled.

They all ran towards the gate.

"Open the gate now!"

Michonne, Maggie, and Ella all grabbed onto the gate and pulled it to the side as fast as they could. Rick pushed a walker to the side, stumbling onto his knees, using his hands to stumble forward. He got back up and continued running towards them as they pulled their weapons out.
