"So you are about two months along with your pregnancy, the baby looks completely healthy. I would like to see you back here on October the seventh which is two months from now." Doctor Anderson says as he turns back to look at me on his spinning chair.

Noah's gonna be mad, he already had a fit when he figured out he couldn't make today's appointment. Football season has come to a start and practice has gotten him more occupied then ever.

Mom helps me wipe off the ultrasound gel then pulls my shirt back over my belly.

"Thank you Doctor Anderson! Do you think we could discuss something to make my appointments appropriate to Noah's schedule? You know how football has started and-"

Doctor Anderson cuts me off and gives me a warm smile. "Of course Elizabeth, your father has already drilled to me that your appointments better not land, and I quote "On no damned Saturday's because that boy will probably beat your ass."

Doctor Anderson says with a laugh while I hide from embarrassment as well mom. "My- um, well Will has a way with words, I'm sorry Mr Anderson." Mom has a look in her eyes and I can tell dad is gonna get it when mom gets home.

She drove all the way down here when she figured out I had an appointment today. When I told my parents about the news, they weren't shocked or disappointed. Mom knew all along according to her motherly instincts, dad was just concerned about my health and if I needed more money to buy anything I needed.

He also called Noah right after I told him. That was a two hour call that I'm dying to know about.

When me and mom arrive at granddaddy's I walk up the steps and hesitantly open the door. "Honey, he will love you with all his heart no matter what you say to him."

Mom rubs my shoulder then opens the door for me to walk in. I take a heavy breath then walk over the threshold.

I expect to hear grandmas squeal that echoes through this old colonial home then the sound of her laughter as she brings me and all of her adored grandchildren into her loving arms.

It's not all that lonely and unfamiliar though, I can still hear ESPN playing on the tv and the sound of granddaddy's laughter as he sits on his recliner.

Lord knows what he's laughing at.

"Now you go talk to him while I cook supper." She goes to walk off but I quickly grab her arm.

"Who are you cooking for? Dad and the twins are at home."

"Oh I forgot to tell you Noah is coming over after practice and so is Clayton after his game, he's bringing home all his friends so I gotta make a big dinner." She smiles then goes back to the kitchen.

I take a heavy breath and walk into the living room. "Hey granddaddy!" He jumps up and puts his hand over his heart.

"Sweet damn sweetheart you scared me." He gets up out of his chair and gives me a hug.

I wrap my arms around him and lay my head on his big ole chest. "Is everything alright sweetheart?" A tear goes down my cheek as I shake my head.

"Beth, sweetie what's wrong?" I lift my head up and move a piece of hair out of my face. "Granddaddy, I'm pregnant."

He smiles then looks down. "You know Beth when we figured out that your sweet mama was pregnant we were disappointed. But then we got over it and accepted the fact that we were about to welcome a new life into the world. A little baby girl, and when you were born it was the best day of our lives."

He holds my hand and gives me a huge smile. "I've seen the way Noah looks at you, that boy is in love you and I have total faith in the great Lord that this baby is a blessing." He kisses the top of my head then sits back in his hair and goes back to his football game.
