Kelly rushed in and sat down next to me. 

I looked at him amused "spend the night in a blender?"

Kelly nodded "something like that"

Then he grabbed my coffee and took a sip from it.

Chief "I just got a few quick announcements. On behalf of Jimmy and his family, i'd like to thank everyone for their donations to the Borelli fund. "

Cruz "how's he doing, Chief?"

Chief "They're transferring him to a long-term care facility today. Rough road ahead. That's it, thanks"

Then he walked away. 

Hermann stood up "Chief's beating himself up"

Kelly smiled "thank you, Connie"

Me "and where are you going?"

Kelly "eh, Brenner invited me on a trip. South America, France-be gone about a month"

I raised an eyebrow "Wow, thanks for warning me"

Kelly grimaced "i was going to tell you, but i couldn't find you last night"

Me "i was at Stella's "

He nodded "well, thanks for letting me know now"

Me "long trip, don't you think?"

Otis "yo, i've seen the way this guy likes to travel. we're talking all expenses paid around the world-yacht-hopping extravaganzas. "

Cruz "wait, who's gonna run Squad while you're gone?"

Me "i hope me"

Kelly "Chief's bringing in someone from Squad 4"

I fake gagged "ugh"

Otis "yeah, there isn't another spot on this private jet, is there?"

Cruz started to laugh.

Me "why didn't you tell me you were gonna go away a month? hm?"

Kelly "like i said, i couldn't find you last night"

Me "You do know how smartphone's work, right? "

Kelly nodded "i am stupid"

Me "don't you think that you should talk to me about something like that? i mean, it's a month, Kelly"

Kelly "would you've said no?"

Me "i would've yes. Go. have fun with your friend. I trust you enough to know that you're not gonna do anything stupid while you're gone for a month. "
