Casey And Severide

A few days later. At a structure fire 1015 Garnett Avenue. 

The Squad and i rushed in through the back. Kelly and i went through the first unit. 

Kelly "Fire Department, Call out!"

A guy was on the ground calling out for someone "Karra!"

Kelly "i got him. check the rooms on the left"

I nodded "copy "

Then i walked through the rooms. 

Me "Fire Department ! call out!"

I heard a woman scream. 

Kelly "Florence, the woman is taken care of. Get out, now!"

I sighed, nodding "fine"

Then i walked out. 

I saw the guys carrying a woman down the aerial. her body was burned. 

It didn't look good. 

Kelly held the man back. 

Gabby tried her best to save the woman "Let's drive"

They put her in the ambulance.

Gabby closed the doors and shook her head at us. 

The man cried out "no no no no"

Kelly comforted him. 

A man came and grabbed him "i'll drive him to the hospital"

Kelly "Chicago Med"

He nodded. 

At the Firehouse. 

The guys carried out buckets of turpentine. Someone had graffitied the wall of the Firehouse. 

Hermann "okay, let's get rid  of that idiot's artwork"

Kidd "and what's gonna stop that guy from hitting us again?"

Hermann "god help him if he does"

Otis "SLVR. Is it silver? what do - what do you guys see there?"

Mouch "South Louisiana Virginia-"

Me "okay, just stop"

Mouch "i gotta - hit the head"

Then he walked inside. 

Night. 

Otis "good riddance"

A woman walked up the driveway "hey. I hope it's okay. I'm, uh- looking for the firefighters from the house fire on Garnett Avenue this morning"

I nodded "yeah, that's us"

Everyone walked out. 

Casey "hi, yea, what can we do for you?"

The woman "I'm Colleen Marks. My sister, Karra, she was the one today..."

Her voice broke. 

Casey "i am so sorry for your loss"

Colleen "thank you. i know you did everything you could. And i just need to know. Did Karra-what i mean is when it happened  .."

Casey put a hand on her shoulder "it was immediate. "

She breathed out relieved "thank god. "

Casey "would you like to sit down..or.."

She shook her head "no. I-I'm not really sure how to say this but was there anything weird about the fire? Suspicious? They fought all the time, her husband. And it got to a point where Karra was worried he'd hurt her, so she started staying with me in Skokie. She said they should take a break. This was a few weeks ago. And i told her not to go back for her stuff. He killed her. I know it"

I walked out and saw Donna walking to us with Terrance. 

She smiled "hey, Flo"

I jumped when i heard the Chief behind me "now there is a sight for sore eyes"

Terrance waved at us smiling "dadydadydady!"

I walked over to them and hugged Donna while giving Terrance a kiss on the head. 

Me "hey, little bro"

I drove a hand through his little curls. 

Chief gave Donna kiss  "how are you doing?"

Donna "well, somebody wanted to come and say hi"

Chief "really. Is that right?"

Donna smiled "he is so much like you"

Chief nodded "that is my new candidate right there"

Donna "no chance he's running into fires"

Chief "well, we gonna see about that. won't we? thank you. I needed this"

Little Terrance was tired but waved at us. 

Next day. Morning. At the Firehouse. 

We got graffitied again. 

I walked over to Kelly "hey, i heard you and Casey aren't at good terms right now?"

Kelly sighed "Florence"

I shook my head "don't call me by my full name, Kelly, you know how much that makes my skin crawl"

He sighed "Baby"

Me "handsome, listen, i know you're convinced that it wasn't arson but Casey thinks otherwise. Why don't you two work together to find out the truth?"

Kelly crossed his arms over his chest "whose side are you on?"

I smiled "i love you"

Kelly raised his eyebrows "Florence"

I sighed "no ones. At least not till there are proves of his guilt or of his innocence"

He nodded. 

Suddenly the Chief walked to us "hey, Florence, you have a second?"

Kelly nodded and walked away. 

I nodded "what do you need?"

Chief "you were a teenager once, right?"

I looked at him confused "as far as i know, yes. Why?"

He handed me his phone "read this"

I read ""Look, you finally got me texting, so maybe you'll respond to this. Love, dad" Happy face."

Chief "happy face to much?"

Me "Keeps it brizzy "

Chief grabbed the phone "Send"

Night. At Molly's. 

Casey and Kelly were sitting at the bar. They were like 15 feet apart. This is slowly getting on my nerves. 

Gabby "OFI made their decision."

Casey "what did they say?"

Gabby "so they are not referring Darin's case to CPD. No arson or murder charges"

Casey sighed. 

Kelly "i found a city camera that showed Darin wasn't home when the fire started. I thought OFI should know"

Casey "then he started the fire another way"

Kelly "he didn't do it"

Casey "yes, he did"

Gabby and i looked at each other. 

Casey stood up "and i'll prove it"

Then he walked out. 

I looked at Kelly who looked at me.
