A young girl stood still in the pouring rain, the bundle in her arms pulled close to her chest.

The baby began to cry, the cold wind seeping through the blankets. The girl hummed softly, the baby's cries softening whilst the tears welled in the girl's eyes.

Looking up, the girl watched the young couple through their front window. They were laughing, dancing softly as music played through the radio.

Smiling softly, the girl silently walked up the drive and up to the porch steps.
At the front door, she unclasped her bracelet, placing it in the swaddle of blankets.

"A reminder that I will always love you, my darling."

The baby smiled at her voice, nestling further into sleep as the girl placed a final kiss on her forehead.

Hands shaking, she leant forward and pressed the doorbell.

Taking on final look at her daughter, the girl disappeared into the stormy night.
