In words, I couldn't describe it. It was terrible. Ella, Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, and Dean were all gone. My mind still hasn't fully accepted it.Allen and Carly were in the kitchen talking about god knows what. Joseph still seemed pretty out of it. In the hosptial he'd hardly say a word. I tried to talk to him about things he liked, but it was no use. I was now raising an infant as well.
Jack Herman Daniels-Van Zant.
"It's like he knows. It's like he knows I ain't his real dad." I wiped a tear and returned my gaze to the child. "I'm sorry I couldn't save your mom and dad buddy. I know I ain't Ronnie, but will I do?"
Joseph, who I didn't realize had came and sat next to me on the couch, put a hand on my shoulder. "Ella really liked you, you know."
"Yeah."
"I miss her. So much."
"Me too. Me too."
"Do you think her and Ronnie are together somewhere? Somewhere where they are happy?"
I nodded. "Somewhere Ella, Cassie, Ronnie, Steve and Dean are having a big old party. They're just waiting for us to get there too. You'll see them all again. We all will."
I looked up to the ceiling. "Take good care of them Lord."
