A Second Chance. Jen and Brad.

Chapter 27, "All Set and Ready To Go".

A couple of days later :

Jen : Honey!

Rushing down the stairs, Jen's looking for Brad, needing to ask him something.

Brad : In the office!

She walks through the door, wondering what he's doing.

Jen : Why are you in my office?

Brad : Do you have a hard time sharing?

Jen : No... I just wanna know what you're doing.

Jen sits down in his lap, looking at the papers in front of him.

Brad : I'm going through a few scripts.

Jen : Oh. Anything exciting?

Brad : Not yet... what did you wanna tell me?

Jen : Well...

She sighs before continuing, knowing he won't exactly be thrilled.

Jen : I wanted to ask you if Friday's gonna work? You know, for the check up.

Brad : Uhm... I guess.

Jen : I know it's not exactly fun, but it needs to be done.

Brad : I know.

He pulls her in for a kiss, before letting out a sigh.

Brad : You need to help me though.

Jen : What? I'm not helping you.

Brad : Do you expect me to do it all on my own?

Jen : I think you'll manage.

Thursday, the same week :

Jen : Jason sent me a picture of the new car... it's pretty cool.

Nodding, Amanda takes a bite of salad as the two of them are having a lunch date.

Amanda : He didn't even tell me he was getting it.

Jen : Typical.

Amanda : So... are you doing anything this weekend?

Jen : Well, let's see Brad's got that doctor...

Realizing Amanda doesn't know, she quickly moves on.

Jen : Uhm, I'm doing that... podcast with Jason on Sunday.

Amanda : Wait, what's Brad doing?

But as usual, nothing gets past Amanda.

Jen : Uhm...

Struggling to come up with something at the top of her head, she freezes.

Amanda : Jen?

Jen : He's got some issues with his back...

Amanda : Wait what?

Jen : Yeah.

Amanda : What issues?

Looking into her eyes, Jen sighs.

She just can't lie to her.

Jen : No... okay listen. You can't tell this to anyone yet and I would prefer that you would keep it a secret from Jason too as he tends to make a big fuzz out of things...

Amanda furrows her brows as she continues.

Amanda : Is it serious? Is he sick?

Jen : No. He's not sick. And he doesn't have issues with his back, I just... I wanted to wait to tell you this until we knew for sure...
