chapter forty two ~ the one with the crazy roommate
Heather's POV

After the night that Dr Drake Ramoray died, I went back to my apartment and I was much later than just an hour. My friends and I had managed to get Joey to agree to not mope around his apartment and had helped him to work on possible auditions so that he would get right back into the acting thing. We knew that if he stayed upset for too long then he would rethink everything about his acting career again and we didn't want him to do that. We were supportive and he agreed that he wasn't giving up on his dream, just because he lost this role didn't mean that there wasn't another role for him out there; he just had to keep pushing and working hard until something even better came along and then he would be the one laughing at the Soap Opera writers who killed off his secondary character.

I felt awful that I hadn't gone back to my apartment to spend time with Nick but I called him from Joey's bathroom phone, making sure to wipe it down several times before touching it and explained to him that we were all trying to cheer Joey up. He had seemed fine over the phone but wasn't acting as his usual self; and I knew exactly why. He was thinking about the fact that he had told me that he loved me and I hadn't said it back, in all seriousness, I thought it was too soon to be saying it. We had only been on a few dates, we hadn't kissed yet and we were taking it slow, which meant that we weren't even officially boyfriend and girlfriend yet. I didn't want to rush into anything and repeat the relationship that I had worked so hard to leave behind; but it was hard when Nick was such a great guy and I could really see myself working with him in the future.

A knock on my front door scared me as I was brushing my hair in the bathroom, thinking that it was Nick, I rushed to answer it because I had free time and that meant that I could apologise for leaving him and for not saying those three words back to him. We could talk about our relationship status and where we go from here, hoping that everything would still be fine because I really like him. But to my surprise, it wasn't Nick on my doorstep, but Chandler. He seemed on edge and jumpy which was something that I was used to as he always seemed a little worried about something but this was slightly more weird than usual and even more unusual that he had come over to my apartment. Whenever we met up, I would always go to his building because it increased the chances of bumping into our other friends and doing something as a group.

"Chandler, what are you doing here?"

He almost knocked me over as he rushed into my apartment and shut the door behind him, his breaths uneven as he checked the peep-hole and then used every lock that I had to ensure that no one else was getting in whilst he was here. He was freaking me out, something that wasn't very unusual as my brother had a way of freaking people out but what was weird was that he was acting more weird than usual. I poked his shoulder which made him jump away from me and confused me even more because he knew I was there and should have guessed that I would have some questions about his weird behaviour.
