chapter fifty one ~ the one with the super gay boxer
Heather's POV

It felt like we were doing something wrong as we stepped over the threshold of the bed and mattress store, we were constantly looking over our shoulder as if someone would suddenly call us out for being there because we knew that we shouldn't. It was wrong and now that we were here, I couldn't believe that Monica had convinced me to come because I felt awful. She wanted to buy a new bed and this place had the best prices, the only issue was that this place belonged to Janice's almost ex-husband and she was not happy with him using their divorce to enhance a sale. We weren't as upset about hurting Janice's feelings, but knew that if Chandler found out that we were sneaking around in the shop that belonged to her ex then he wouldn't be happy. As much as I wanted to believe that it wasn't a big deal, I knew that it was and that made me feel more awful about what we were doing.

Monica was convinced that we weren't doing anything wrong because she needed a new bed and she was going to buy one; she claimed that it didn't matter where she got it from but Phoebe and I knew that it did matter. It mattered a lot. If Chandler found out that we were going behind his back to find a bed and purchase it from Janice's ex, then he would hate us and I didn't want that to happen. Not after we had spent such a long time working through our differences. The place was full of people when we arrived, everyone had gone there when the sale was announced and it made me feel slightly less worried because if someone saw us then we could hide behind the other customers before making our big escape. Of course, if someone did see us then we were going to leave Monica and blame the whole thing on her; Phoebe and I had already decided on the plan on the way here and were happy with not getting in trouble.

"I don't know Monica; it feels funny just being here." Phoebe said, pulling her jacket tighter around her body as she looked around at the different beds. "I mean, if you buy a bed from Janice's ex-husband that's like betraying Chandler."

"Not at these prices. Besides, that's why Heather's here."

"What?" I questioned, raising my eyebrow as I turned to face my friends, not happy with what they had just disclosed. "To take the blame when my brother finds out?"

"No..." Monica trailed off before wincing and being honest with me. "But if you did take the blame then that would be great, Chandler wouldn't hate you but he would hate us."

"Well, maybe Phoebe and I have already come up with a plan? One where we blame the whole thing on you and run away."

She gasped, her mouth gaping. "You wouldn't."

"We would." Phoebe retorted as we high-fived and agreed that we were sticking to our plan if everything went wrong because there was no way that I was going to get blamed for going to this store when the whole thing was Monica's idea.

"Chandler is not going to find out, remember?" I tried to remind them, sticking to the story that we had agreed on because none of us wanted my brother to find out that we were here and that we had bought a bed from the enemy. Keeping it a secret and praying that he never found out was our best option and that was what we were going to do. "We agreed to keep this a secret."
