chapter eighty two ~ the one with the fallout
Heather's POV

I have a boyfriend. I couldn't believe it, I was more than happy, I was ecstatic. It was like I was floating on a cloud and no matter what people would say to me, I was more than happy where I was. This relationship was going better than anything that I had ever been involved in before and I didn't have a bad word to say about Joey. I'll admit that at first, I was afraid that he wouldn't take our relationship seriously as he was the kind of guy who liked sleeping around but he seemed committed to us and that made me really happy. He seemed to be involved in this relationship and we were taking our time with it; something that I hadn't done with my previous relationships. Sometimes I felt bad because we had been keeping this a secret from our friends but we agreed that this was the best thing to do for now and when the time was right, we would know and we would tell them. We just knew that right now; the time wasn't right and we were too scared of what their reaction might be.

Monica and Rachel invited me over to the boys' big apartment to have some lunch with them, and I gladly accepted because if I didn't have an excuse to spend my lunch break somewhere else then Melissa would drag me somewhere. For most of the week, I had been dragged out by my new best friend and she had insisted on Joey and I joining her on a double date once a month at least. I hadn't broken the bad news to my boyfriend yet because I knew that he wasn't going to take it well but I was hoping that I could think of enough excuses to get us out of these dates for a few months but also knew that excuses wouldn't save us forever. I took a seat at the foosball table with Monica and Rachel as we dished out food and tried to ignore what Chandler and Joey had playing on the TV.

"Come on, do we really have to watch this while we eat?" Rachel complained as she walked over to the remote and tried to take it.

"No, no, no, no!" Joey yelled.

Chandler stood up, ensuring that the remote was far out of our reach so that we couldn't mess with the TV. "We don't know what could make this go away."

"Yeah, so no one touches the remote and no one touches the TV." Joey insisted, which was making me angrier each time that he protected the stupid porn playing on the screen.

"And no one touches the air around the TV."

"Imagine a protective porn bubble, if you will." My boyfriend agreed with my brother and tried to get us to agree. "Okay?"

"I'm at least going to mute it." Monica insisted as she reached down and pressed a button on the remote.

The boys screamed at her. "No, no, no, no!" But once they had checked that their beloved porn was still on the screen, they calmed down and sat back down. "We still have porn."

I was angrier than ever before at Joey and his reaction to the porn; I hated the fact that he was so reliant on the TV and that he felt that he needed it. When no one was suspicious, I asked him to talk to me privately and was glad that our other friends seemed to be entranced with the TV screen that they didn't even question what we were going to do. Joey didn't seem that bothered when I shut the door behind me but I knew that this conversation wasn't going to end well, and could tell that this would be the first argument of our relationship. "What did you need to talk about?"
