chapter ninety nine ~ the one with nora bing
Heather's POV

This week we were more of a family than we had ever been because Phoebe needed us. Her grandmother died, and in reality, this was the only family that she had had for most of her life, losing her was harder than she had ever imagined. Of course, now she was lucky to have a much more extended version of family, but her grandmother had been everything to her at one point and it was hard losing her. We all agreed to attend the funeral, even though we had never met her grandmother, we were going to support our friend which was more important than anything else. Walking down the street, all of us wearing black, made me feel like we were a part of some music video or something, but then I was brought back to reality when Joey offered me a mint from his new bag. Something that Rachel had convinced him that he needed, and something that the guys were teasing him about non-stop.

Rachel steps forward first to greet Phoebe as we walk into the room. "Hi sweetie."

"How are you holding up?" Ross asked, keeping his voice low in respect.

"Fine." She replied, embracing both Monica and myself as we were next to give our condolences.

Joey kissed her cheek. "Hi Phoebe, I'm so sorry."

"Hey, you know what? My Grandma had the exact same bag."

"Here, I brought you some flowers." He opened his bag and took out a bunch of yellow flowers, handing them over to Phoebe, which seemed to make her happier than she had been in a while.

"Thanks!"

Chandler shook his head, obviously hating the bag. "Yeah, pulling flowers out of it makes the bag look a lot more masculine."

"Hey, don't get jealous just because Joey can pull it off and you can't." I snapped back, trying not to laugh at the look of disgust that my brother was wearing when he stared at the black bag.

Our conversation was cut short when a man bumped into Chandler. "Excuse me. Is this the memorial?"

We move over so that Phoebe could continue talking to the guests that had all arrived for the memorial and reached into the drawer that held the 3D glasses. I could quite happily say that I had never been to a funeral which was led with a 3D experience, so I was looking forward to seeing what was in store for us. Of course, I was trying to keep my excitement appropriate, because this wasn't the best situation to get enthusiastic about something as childish as 3D glasses. I tried to maintain my respectful stance and facial expressions but I couldn't help but squeal when Chandler gave me a pair for the ceremony. My excitement was put on hold when Phoebe turned to us with a stunned look on her face. "Oh my God."

Ross gripped her arm, trying to understand what had happened. "What?"

"That was my dad."

My jaw dropped as I gasped. "What?"
