chapter sixty two ~ the one with frank & alice
Heather's POV

Ever since the ski trip, Ross and Rachel had agreed to be more civil and to make sure that if they did argue about anything, it didn't affect the rest of us because they agreed that it wasn't fair to ruin the friendship that we all cared about so much. Today was a normal day, I was supposed to start work in the diner in a couple of hours so before my shift started, I headed to Central Perk for a coffee. And just like any other day, I saw all of my friends when I came in and I was more than happy to take my coffee over to the couch and see them before I carried on with my day. Chandler and Phoebe were sat on the stools as I hovered next to them, not minding that there wasn't enough room for me because I wasn't planning on staying too long. Rachel, Monica and Joey were on the couch and Ross was sat on the armchair, sipping his own coffee and ignoring the glares that Rachel sent him every so often.

None of us knew what was about to happen but suddenly a familiar face came into the Coffee House and we were all surprised to see Frank Jr, Phoebe's half-brother. He hadn't been in the city for a long time but it was nice to see him visiting and it was even nicer to see how Phoebe's face lit up when he entered the room. She really cared about her brother and it made me realise how lucky I was to also have a good relationship with mine, because not everyone managed to have something as real and honest as that. Even though Chandler annoyed me to no extent, I was really lucky to have him around and lucky that he had such a well-paid job so that he could pay for takeaways and movie nights.

"Oh my God, Frank!" Phoebe ran to embrace him.

He also had a wide smile on his face as he hugged her back. "Hey, how are you?"

"What are you doing here?"

"Well, you know, I would have called but I lost your phone number and then, my Mom locked me out of the house so I couldn't find it." He started explaining his whole background story as we all listened intently. "And then I tried to find a pay-phone and the receiver was cut off..."

"What happened?"

"Oh, uh, vandalism."

Phoebe nodded, knowing that she was actually asking about something else. "But also, what happened between you and your Mom?"

"Well, we got in a fight because she said I was too immature to get married."

"You're getting married? My little brother's getting married!" She tells everyone in the Coffee House and jumps up and down.

See, that was the kind of reaction that I had wanted when I had told my friends that I was engaged, of course, now I knew why they weren't that happy for me. But if I ever got engaged to someone that they approved of and someone who wasn't an asshole, then I would hope that they would have that kind of reaction because that's the kind of reaction that you want your friends to have. The funny thing was that Phoebe was this excited and she didn't even know who Frank's fiancé was, which was funny but also kind of scary because based on Frank, this woman could be absolutely anything.
