I'm awoken to the golden rays of sun coming through a window

My eyes adjust and I see that I'm an a sort of hospital bed, my hand was bandaged up.

I cringed looking at the stumps that once were my fingers.

I was in a house. It looked like a farmhouse, it had nice wood, good lighting, it was cozy

"You're awake!" I hear a cheery voice sound off. I whip my head around, reaching for my belt only to realize I had been disarmed.

Although I probably wouldn't have needed it.

The sight that beheld my eyes was that of a cheery man with golden hair and a food tray in his hands.

However something else catches my eye to the right.

Laying peacefully in bed..., MISSING AN ARM

Tears well up in my eyes as my hands start to shake I bury my face in my hands as I start to Sob.

"Hey hey..." I hear the man say in a reassuring tone as he pats my back

"It's all over..."I choke out

"Beacons gone..."

"Well.... yes..." the man says, I could tell he didn't have a really good answer.

"But you tried your best" he said

I wipe my tears off on my t-shirt. Sucking it up

"I'm sorry you had to see me like that..." I say, sadly. He gives me soft look sitting down on the bed like a father would.

"It's ok... it's natural. I'm Taiyang" he says reassuringly

"Y/n..." I say back

"thanks for taking care of me and goldy-locks over there" I gesture at Yang. He chuckles

"It's natural for a father to look after his kids..."

I sit in the (rather large) kitchen of the Xiao long household. A blanket around my shoulders and a hot mug of coffee in my good hand.

Tai leans on the counter, intently watching my movements as if I was an animal at the zoo.

"Thank you for taking care of my girls, I really appreciate it" Tai says, an hopeful smile on his face.

Well he's assuming things...

"Who said I took care of them?" I ask sarcastically

"They did"

My eyes narrow, I turn towards him.

"They would always write to me, describing their boyfriend, the sarcastic yet loveable Y/n..." he says with a smile

I didn't know they held me in such high regards...

Speaking of...

"Where's my team?" I ask, newly concerned.

"As of Late,I'm not sure, I can give you a vague idea..." he says scratching his chin

"Weiss went back to the Schnee manor, Ruby and the remains of Jaunes team have decided to go to mistral academy to-"

"Wait, wait wait" I say confused putting my arms up as if to halt him

"Remains...?" I ask my voice shaky, who was it. Tai looks remorseful.

"during the battle of beacon... Pyrrha Nikos was struck down..." he says sadly.

I freeze my eyes narrow

And my eyes welled up again.

I didn't want to cry, but I did

I wasn't crying for Pyrrha though.... she was a friend, but she wasn't that close.

I cried for Jaune, she loved him more than anyone in the world and she never got to tell him.

"G-go on..." I choke out, once again wiping my tears.

"Yang was in shock, but she said Blake ran off..." he says

Shock huh? Why's that?

"How? How'd she lose her arm?" I ask

"apparently a white fang leader cut it off" Tai says, regret filling his voice, I could tell he was in pain, not being able to save his daughter.

I have to leave...

"I have to leave" I say, resolve filling my voice, this catches Tai's attention and a look of concern adorns his face

"You Just woke up! You're down a hand, and you have no idea where your going!"

"You don't understand, this situation is dire, I need to find Ozpin-" I start

"Oz is dead!" He yells

"I have to go! I have to help them! My team! Do you have my stuff!?" I yell back.

He looks at me with a surprised look, that look then gives way to sadness.

"The staff of beacon sent me your inheritance..."

"It's upstairs, room to the left" He says sighing

I nod, beginning to run up the stairs but he calls out to me:

"Y/n!?" He yells up the stairs

"Yes?" I call back

"My daughters love you, they really do, so don't get yourself killed" he says. I smile and nod.

I wouldn't give up that easy
