Letting go of self-restraint 2 - All that is missing is a little one

Chapter 32

Wen Ning was watching the spot where he last saw Jiang Cheng disappear from his view. Although involuntarily and knowing full well that it was his own choice, he still felt a prick of pain at seeing his husband leave with another Omega. He shook his head to stop himself from thinking about such ridiculous things, of course the Yunmeng Jiang sect leader had to leave with his brother, otherwise it could have been fatal for Wei Wuxian, Wen Ning's heat could wait at the moment.

His head was still fuzzy and his body hot and uncooperative, but he still managed to finish setting up the protective barrier in the end. He did not know how long it would take Jiang Cheng to take care of the pregnant Omega and to find help, he could be left stuck here for a while and he did not want any surprises. After ensuring his own safety, he tried to make himself the most comfortable possible on the blanket that his husband had left for him and waited.

Although he was tempted by his body to pleasure himself like he always did before his wedding, ever since then it was always his bonded partner who took care of him, he resisted. He did not know who or what was lurking around and he did not want to be seen in a compromising position. So he endured for the first time since manifesting as an Omega. His thoughts were alternating between his heat and thinking about Wei Wuxian and his baby.

He did not know how much time passed, perhaps he also fell asleep for a while, when he finally saw a familiar figure running towards him; Jiang Cheng came back for him. The older boy started fuzzing over him, an endless stream of words leaving his mouth. Wen Ning could not understand anything, he was too relieved to have his husband back, he only clung to him trying to compose himself enough to be ready for the way back.

"Young Master Wei's life and the life of his baby are in danger and here I am, incapacitated by my heat... I should be by his side now; I have promised that much to him. I have already conquered my heat once, I should be able to do it again and take care of them. What kind of doctor am I if I cannot take care of my patients? Pull yourself together, Wen Ning!"

He finally understood what the Yunmeng Jiang sect leader was telling him: "...Wuxian is safe, Nie Huisang is with him now. We need to get you back to Lotus Pier, you cannot stay here like this. I should have never let you go on your own. Look what happened! You could have gotten yourself hurt or attacked or worse. I am taking you back right now, let others take care of my idiot brother; he has his own husband does he not?"

Of course it was an endless scolding that his bonded partner did not mean in earnest, he was only venting his own stress and worries, unable to cope with the situation in any other way. The Dafan Wen disciple wanted to explain the situation to Jiang Cheng, he wanted him to understand that Wei Wuxian is really in danger and that he needs all the people who care about him by his side right now. However, he was still too weak and he had no breath to spare for talking, he was panting frantically.

In the end, he only managed a short plea: "Jiang Cheng, please take me to Yiling."

The Yunmeng Jiang sect leader stilled and went silent, apparently he did not expect his husband to not want to go back home, to Lotus Pier. It took him a while, scowling in his contemplation process, before he slowly nodded and scoped the younger boy into his arms. He flew as fast as possible and they arrived to Yiling within few minutes.

Jiang Cheng did not put him down but instead carried him into a room in an inn, already prepared, and laid him down on the bed. Wen Ning relaxed, he did not need to fear any attack here, he had his Alpha with him after all.

He sobered however nearly immediately afterwards, he still had to help Wei Wuxian: "Jiang Cheng, where is Young Master Wei?"

"In the room next door, Nie Huisang is with him," provided his husband an answer. When Wen Ning tried to get up and faltered, the older boy's scowl became deepened still as he scolded in earnest this time: "Why do you not worry about yourself for once? You are in no condition to take care of anyone right now. You are in heat! I will not let you out of this room until it subsides."

It stank a bit, Wen Ning normally did not mind being called weak but in this situation it reminded him all too well about his limits. He went still, tears started welling up in his eyes. Then he took a deep breath and concentrated again on controlling his heat. If Jiang Cheng did not want to let him out before his heat subsided, he would just do as he did before, he would will the heat to stop manifesting and convince his husband to let him go take care of his brother-in-law.

He was successful in moments, it was easier than the first time, now he only had to make sure his self-restraint did not slip. Jiang Cheng's eyes grew wide as his husband stood up without any problems this time. He was completely stunned and he did not ever try to stop the younger boy from leaving. Wen Ning knew he would probably hear how reckless he was afterwards but for now, he did not mind, Wei Wuxian needed his help, he had promised him he would remain by his side.

He knocked on the door of the room next door and waited for Nie Huisang to let him in. Nothing happened for a long while and he was already thinking he had a wrong room when the door finally opened and a tired and distressed looking Qinghe Nie disciple appeared before him. When the other boy noticed who he was, his expression brightened and he immediately pulled him inside, closing the door after them.

Wen Ning looked around the room and when he saw the half-naked Wei Wuxian on the bed and the prepared bath, he understood what Nie Huisang was so stressed about. With the two of them, they have managed to get the Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple into the bath without much problems, although it would have been a difficult task for only one person.

While they were gently rubbing the dirt off of Wei Wuxian and massaging his cold limbs, the Qinghe Nie disciple was eyeing him curiously, but did not say a word. Wen Ning smiled, more to himself then at the other: "Young Master Nie is probably wondering what happened and how am I here. I am not sure how much Jiang Cheng explained to him before running off to fetch me. I should probably start from the beginning; I also need to make sure that Young Master Nie understood how fragile Young Master Wei's mental state is; we need to plan carefully. While he needs the presence of his bonded partner, he is now extremely afraid of it from what I have observed. We need to get to the bottom of it to help Young Master Wei, Young Master Lan and their baby to reunite as a family."

He explained everything he learned and observed since waking up in Wei Wuxian's cave. Nie Huisang listened attentively, looking at the pregnant Omega with sadness and compassion in his eyes. He was silent, probably thinking about the best plan, until they have finished treating the Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple and he was comfortably tugged under the blankets.

"Wen Ning, thank you for telling me all this and thank you for finding Brother Wei. As I have feared, he is not ready to face everyone. I will send them a word that we have found him, they need to know he is safe and that they do should not look for him any longer. We also need to prepare Lan Wangji, I am sure he would rush here as soon as he sees the message; we cannot let them meet just yet, it could push Brother Wei over the edge and I do not even want to imagine what he could do then...

I will inform sect leader Lan; I am sure he would be able to sooth his brother. We need Lan Wangji to understand what is happening and convince him to be patient for a bit longer. We would first need to get to the bottom of Brother Wei's fear, we cannot risk him having any more emotional breakdowns, it would be dangerous for the baby...

I will get to it immediately. Please stay at Brother Wei's side and keep an eye on him. I am sorry to ask this of you when you are in heat, but it seems you are able to manage for now. If anything happens or if you need me to take over, you can find me and Brother Jiang in the room next door. Thank you again for finding him. I hope everything will go smoothly from now on."
