Wei Wuxian opened his eyes, tired and confused. There was too much light around him, he was not used to waking up outside of his cave. He wondered if he had lost consciousness perhaps or fell asleep outside without knowing it. His contemplations were proven wrong when he heard a familiar voice.

He started at first, only until he remembered what had happened earlier: "Oh right, I have found Wen Ning and brought him back with me. Then I have tried to attack him when he said he was taking me back... I remember begging him not to and passing out. We are clearly not in the cave anymore; did he actually took me back? What now? Is the baby..."

He quickly drew his hand to his stomach, overrun with panic and scared for his child's life, and felt nothing wrong. An immense relieve washed over him and he relaxed. Rationally speaking, he knew that Wen Ning would probably not harm him or the baby, but his fear was still getting the best of him.

He sat up very slowly, helping to steady himself with one hand, the other still protectively placed on his belly. It took several seconds for his head to stop spinning violently, only then did he look around to scan his surroundings and to look for the younger boy. He learned that he was apparently still in the Burial Mounds, he recognized the rock nearby, it was the one hiding the entrance to the cave.

Wen Ning's voice earlier was not coming from too far away, so he should be close too. And sure enough, the younger boy was sitting on his heels a few steps away. When he noticed him getting up, he did nothing to stop him nor help him, and Wei Wuxian felt grateful for that, his instincts screaming at him that anyone who approached him could harm his baby.

When there was no movement, the Yunmeng Jiang disciple relaxed slightly: "If we are still here, Wen Ning must have heard my pleas and not drag me back. I am happy for that. But I am also sure that he still has the intention of talking me into going back. I have to admit that the last week was not exactly easy; it would be great to have some good food and perhaps a hot bath... Maybe I can manage to convince him to bring me some supplies? But first and foremost, I need him to swear to me that he would not speak about seeing me to anyone..."

Wei Wuxian was observing the other boy and deciding how to best convince him. The Dafan Wen doctor spoke when it was evident that the older boy would not engage in a conversation anytime soon: "Young Master Wei, please do not worry. If you do not want to go back, you do not have to. I understand you are protective of your child, that is perfectly normal. However, you should take better care of yourself, you are currently in a bad shape whether you acknowledge it or not. Please believe me that I do not mean the two of you any harm.

I know you do probably have many questions about pregnancy, I imagine you have never received proper education in that area. I am an Omega too; although I do not have a child of my own just yet, I believe I could understand your worries and emotions, at least partially. I am ready to answer all your questions for you to the best of my abilities.

But first, you should drink and eat something, I am sure you will feel better afterwards. I have supplies with me, if you allow me, I will go fetch them. I promise I will not tell about you to anyone. Would you accept what little help I can provide at the moment?"

Wei Wuxian's eyes widened, he never thought it would be so easy to have Wen Ning keep his secret. He could change his mind, but for now, this was the best he could get. The Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple was tempted by the promise of a meal, he did not eat well in ages and Wen Ning could probably spear some of his food to him, after all, he could go get more supplies anytime he wanted.

With this, the younger boy was also sure to come back. He knew he was being shameless and greedy but he had been lonely for a long time now and he longed for proximity of another human being that would help him and possibly also take care of him in this perilous situation. He did not let himself feel disappointed that Wen Ning was not Lan Zhan. It was already a blessing that someone so nice and understanding had found him and, for now, was not threatening the safety of his baby.

Wei Wuxian was still a little tense and suspicious, he could not burry all the worries he had since before he had learned about his pregnancy just like that. He was already tired of fighting everything all alone so he tried to convince himself that the younger boy posed no threat to him or his child: "Wen Ning was always so good to me. And so understanding. He never once berated or belittled me when we were in Cloud Recess; he was by my side even in my most shameful moments. He even helped Jiang Cheng to safe a puppy, he would surely not hurt any living being... He is an Omega as well; as he said, he can probably pretty much understand my feelings. Moreover, he had already touched me and the baby is still alright."

The Dafan Wen disciple was looking at him expectantly but with endless patience, he made no move as if he was waiting for Wei Wuxian's confirmation before doing anything at all. The older boy nodded and only then did Wen Ning approach him with a bottle of water in his hands. The Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple gratefully took it and emptied it in one go. It did him good, his head stopped spinning and he actually felt refreshed.

He smiled and it felt like age had passed from the moment he last did it: "Thank you, Wen Ning." The younger boy beamed and nodded in his direction, still not making any movements that would be potentially threatening, only silently sitting at his side while giving him space. "I would like to take you up on that offer of food, I did not eat well in months. Hopefully I will not throw out as soon as I try to put it into my mouth..."

He started in a joyful tone, but sometime during his speech it had turned plain and tired, until his voice died out on its own. Wen Ning scowled for a moment but was quick to reassure him: "Young Master Wei, that is perfectly alright, I will bring something that is gentle on the stomach. I have a donkey not far from here; all my supplies are with it. Would it be alright if I go search for it?"

Once again Wei Wuxian's heart felt warm: "He is such a good boy, he even asks me for permission to go fetch his supplies for me. And here I thought I could not rely on anyone... Perhaps it will be alright to trust him? I believe his intentions are pure; he would not hurt us... He reminds me of Shijie, gentle, sweet and caring." He felt his eyes getting teary but he did not want to start crying. He only nodded again, unable to say anything.

Wen Ning gently put a reassuring hand on his shoulder: "I will be back in a few minutes. Come, I will help you get back inside so no one will see you, just in case. You should not move around too much in your condition."

He lifted Wei Wuxian up to his own still shaky legs and steadied him while helping him carry his sword; the Yunmeng Jiang disciple was happy that he did not take it from him, it was his last line of defence. Not against Wen Ning, he believed him now as much as he was able to at the moment, but against anyone else or the beast that was surely still lurking around.

During the end of the year holiday, the updates may not be very regular due to me being busy and having scarce access to the Internet. I am sorry in advance and thank you for your understanding.
