Although all the resources of the Gusu Lan sect, the Yunmeng Jiang sect, the Lanling Jin sect, the Qinghe Nie sect and the Dafan Wen disciples were deployed in search for the runaway Wei Wuxian, it seemed the distressed Omega had disappeared from the face of the Earth. No one saw him nor heard of him anywhere, they had covered most of the cultivation world in their desperate search but it had yet to bear any fruit.

And the imaginary clock was ticking, Nie Huisang was getting more and more restless and worried for his friend. On the afternoon of the first day after his disappearance, Wen Ning gathered all who knew about his true second gender and informed them about Wei Wuxian being pregnant. The news were great on their own, everyone would have been overjoyed be it not for the fact that the future parent had run away and was currently in danger.

Nie Huisang knew how delicate and fragile Omegas were during their pregnancy and he was fearing for his friend's life, even more so if the Yunmeng Jiang head disciple did not know about his condition. The Qinghe Nie disciple had his doubts however: "Brother Wei must have known he is pregnant, why else would he run away from his husband? The bond should have stopped him from even thinking about that. Pregnant Omegas need proximity with their partners or they feel extremely stressed, there are many that lose their babies and even their lives due to the emotional imbalance...

If Brother Wei knew nothing about his pregnancy, he would have surely hidden his discomfort but he would have remained here. I think that the only possible explanation at this point is that he knew and that he had left precisely because of it, although I do not know why. I only suspect it has something to do with the teachings of Yu Ziyuan. What if he thought that his baby would be in danger here? Is that why he had taken it away? Poor Brother Wei... We need to find him as soon as possible!"

He had already deployed his network of spies, they were highly perceptive and normally they found the information he was looking for in mere hours, however now, even they were powerless which was positively excruciating for Nie Huisang.

He felt sorry for Lan Wangji who was looking like he just lost half of his soul, which was not an understatement as the Second Jade had been running all around in frantic search for his husband, not eating, not sleeping for a whole week until he inevitably collapsed. They have recovered him in a nearby village and as soon as he woke up, he was insisting to go out again, his thoughts only devoted to his soulmate. His brother could no longer stand him withering before his eyes and asked Wen Qing to put him to sleep.

Together with Lan Xichen, they were looking after the Gusu Lan disciple diligently, making him eat regularly and watching out for him. It was as if the grief had rendered the Second Jade crazy; surely he was feeling the loss of his partner at his side, the bond must have been making it impossible for him to stay in one place, not looking for his Omega. They could not let him leave however before he recovered his forces.

It was breaking Nie Huisang's heart to see Lan Wangji in such a state, all live was gone from his eyes and he had become completely unresponsive to anyone. He was muttering "Wei Ying" while silent tears wet the pillows under his head when he was asleep and trying to leave bed the second he opened his eyes to go look for his fated soulmate. His body too weak to support him properly, they would often find him on the ground trying to crawl out of the room.

Nie Huisang could understand his worries, the Second Jade had not only his soulmate to worry about but also un unborn child now. Although they did not explain to him all the dangers that Wei Wuxian could be running at the moment, he seemed to understand instinctively. The third week after his husband's disappearance, he was finally strong enough to go out and search again, together with several other Gusu Lan disciple's. Lan Xichen assigned them to him explaining that more eyes could be only beneficial for the search, but Nie Huisang suspected it was to keep track of his brother and to ensure he would not break down again.

With Lan Wangji gone, Nie Huisang could once again focus fully on searching for the Yunmeng Jiang head disciple. He was now standing in his room in Lotus Pier and looking at a map of the cultivation world. After receiving the word about Wei Wuxian's disappearance, he and the Gusu Lan party stayed there to coordinate the search efforts, hoping that the distressed Omega would come back on his own, however unlikely that was.

Nie Huisang was going through where they already searched over and over again. He was sure that the Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple could not have truly disappeared; he should still be somewhere, hiding from everyone, possibly fearing for the life of his unborn baby without any regards for his own.

"Where would I go if I did not want to be found and was weak and distressed? Surely not into bigger cities, I would be found there quite easily, it would be the first place where anyone looking for me would be asking. Maybe a small village? That was a possibility, but we have already dispatched messengers to all known villages and no one knew about him. My spies had also been to most of the small settlements and did not see anything unusual, like someone suddenly hiding a runaway Omega...

Brother Wei would surely not ask help from strangers, from what I heard and saw, he still does not want to publically reveal his true second gender. Plus, he is known by everyone in Yunmeng, they would have recognized him. Unless he is no longer in the Yunmeng territory... which is unlikely with his condition, he would need to travel on foot and we would have surely already found him. He took his sword with him but he should not have been able to fly long distances with his spiritual energy being depleted quickly due to his pregnancy.

As I suspect he is fearing for his baby, I think I would not have asked for help from anyone should I be in his position... That leaves only a desolate area where he would not be easily spotted but where there would be enough resources to get by. When we are talking about Yunmeng, and I still think he did not have gotten too far, it leaves only the Burial Mounds. That must be it! Why did I not think of it earlier? It was so obvious too.

It is vast enough to hide one person without anyone noticing while there are plenty of opportunities to hunt or gather wild fruits to sustain oneself. Surely Brother Wei is hiding somewhere there! Now, how to find him? He would not come out on his own, we would need to be careful not to scare him even more than he already is. We should probably send just a small party with only people he is familiar with. I need to go inform everyone, we need to act quickly! It has already been almost a month; Brother Wei's life may already be in grave danger without any medical help."

Nie Huisang run out of the room although it was already pretty late in the evening, he knew however that the others would still be up and worrying. He had to tell them immediately and switch the perimeter of their search.
