THE DAYS flew by faster than someone with superspeed powers. But for Y/N, if felt like time was a snail.
For the past three weeks, she was stuck in the hospital. Slowly, but surely, she was getting better, but her scars surely did look the same. But at least they didn't feel like she was getting her guts pulled out anymore.
Somehow, she managed to tell Draco to go back to classes. Both for him and her, since for the past few weeks, he was the one to give her her school work and such. Sucks, right? Being hospitalized didn't give her the excuse to not do work.
But on the bright side, it giver her more time with Draco.
As for Hermione, Ron, and Harry- well, so far, Hermione visited her thrice, once a week, but the boys were no where to be seen. Draco said they were up to something again, as always.
Speaking of, today was a special day. June fifth, the day Narcissa Malfoy decided to poop out Y/N's Ferret boy.
She managed to ask Winky (the house elf from the kitchen) with the help of madame Promfey to bring her a birthday cake. Y/N didn't exactly know what flavor Draco preferred, but she decided to keep it safe and go with a lemon chiffon cake with caramel frosting. (The thought of it makes my mouth water, honestly.)
"Thank you, Winky," said Y/N when the elf delivered the cake. The girl slowly sat up, wincing a bit when she bent too much.
The elf only smiled at her, "No need to thank Winky, ma'am," she said, and put the cake on top of the bedside table, "Winky will be in the kitchen if you need anything, miss Black," and without another word, she apparated out of the hospital wing.
Y/N smiled, and leaned her back on the pillows. She slowly took the cake out of the box, examining it. It looked absolutely delicious. It took everything in her to not eat it then and there.
But only a minute or two, Draco walked in the Infirmary, giving the girl no time to hide the cake.
Draco stopped in front of her bed, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "What's with the cake?"
Y/N gave him a smile, and just shrugged, "Happy birthday?" she said.
The blonde didn't know what to say. He wasn't one to celebrate this day, there really was no point. Other than his mother sending him a birthday card, he really doesn't do anything.
"I- I don't know what to say," he had said, slowly putting his satchel down on the floor.
"You could start by saying thanks," Y/N laughed, and put the cake on her lap as she grabbed the candles from inside the box. She put the candles one by one, "Seventeen- Godric are you old," the girl teased.
Draco playfully rolled his eyes, and sat on the edge of his girlfriend's bed, "You didn't have to do this, really," he said, but he really does appreciate the effort- Merlin, this made him love her more.
"I wanted to," the girl smiled, then lit up the candles with her wand, "Come on, just close your eyes, make a wish, and blow them out."
The blonde smiled, and closed his eyes, "I wish.. I wish.." he thought, but he didn't really know what he was wishing for. What should he be wishing for?
He opened his eyes, but didn't blow the candles out. Y/N looked at him in worry, "Is there something wrong?"
"I don't know what to wish for," he let out a bitter chuckle.
Y/N's face fell, "Why don't you know? Everyone wishes for something," she said.
"I guess," Draco sighed, and once again closed his eyes. It seemed cheesy, and it felt weird for Draco to wish for something. Usually, when he wants something, he would just ask his father, and without another second thought, Lucius would give it to him.
He didn't know if his father did it out of love, or out of annoyance just for him to shut up. Sadly, Draco thinks that the latter fits more.
"Just think about something you'd do anything for," said Y/N.
There were only two things- or people he'd do anything for. His mother, and Y/N. With a sigh, he thought; I wish for them to have less pain.
And without another thought, he blew out the candles. He was happy with his wish. It didn't matter if he gets hurt, he didn't want Y/N or his mother to get hurt any more. It was selfless of him- not like Draco Malfoy at all.
But things happen, and people change.
"I'm sure whatever you wished for will come true," Y/N smiled at him lovingly, and carefully removed the candles from the cake.
Draco only gave a tight smile, I hope so, he thought. He let out a tired sigh, and said, "The cake smells good."
Just like that, the girl's face lit up with happiness, "It is good! One of the bests!"
They shared the cake. Just eating it from the cake board, since it didn't really matter. They also shared stories, and laughs.
Draco loved every minute of it, but it breaks his heart thinking that he wouldn't have this next year. He's not ready to lose Y/N in a few weeks, but he doesn't have a choice if he wants her to live.
The time flew fast, and the next thing they know, it was late at night. They were surprised madame Promfey hasn't kicked Draco out (Though, she was supposed to, but she when she saw how happy the couple were, she just couldn't).
"You have to leave and get some rest," Y/N said sadly as she packed away the box of the cake they finished (It wasn't that big, it was just perfect for the two of them, so no problem for sugar rush). She levitated it towards the trashcan without a problem.
Draco nodded sadly, "Unfortunately," he gave a bitter chuckle, "Thank you, Y/N. I appreciated this," he said in a low voice, as if he didn't want anyone to hear.
But Y/N heard him clearly. She grabbed his hand, and squeezed it tight, "I'm glad you enjoyed this little celebration," she said. Then, she leaned forward a little, and gave the boy's cheek a peck, "Happy birthday, Draco."
The blonde smiled, and returned the peck, but this time, on the lips, "Salazar, what did I ever do to deserve you?"
Y/N smiled, then shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe because you're a ferret."
Draco couldn't help but roll his eyes, "Only for you," he teased.
"Oh, shut up!" Y/N laughed, pushing Draco off the bed, but he stood up instead, also laughing, "You need sleep. Go on, I won't go anywhere."
The blonde shook his head in disbelief, and grabbed his satchel from the bedside, "Not like you can go anywhere anyways."
Y/N Black playfully flipped him off, once again making him laugh, and leave the Infirmary.
As he walked the dark corridors alone, the smile on his face slowly faded.
The silence was enough for him to know how alone he is. Today was a bit bittersweet for him. It made him upset that they had to celebrate his birthday in the hospital wing. He could think of so many ways and places they could've spent the day, but no, they were in the infirmary.
And it was all Draco's fault.
Just a few more weeks.
All her misery will be over. He promise that.

To the ppl that suggested cake flavors on Instagram,,, I'm sorry I ended up not using any of the suggestions lol. I was looking for a flavor that fits Draco, but ended up finding any, so I ended up with my fave instead.
I'm also sorry if you're allergic to lemons, this was just a filler.
