IT WAS the day today. June thirtieth, nineteen ninety seven.

It was their last chance. This was their last solution to the problem they never wanted to solve.

Y/N knew that whatever happens, tomorrow will be different. She has no idea how things will go, but with them going home soon, she was sure to have a talk with her father. Did she want to talk about this? No. But Sirius has the right to know.

Right now, they're supposed to be packing to go home, but the young couple didn't exactly want to do that just yet/ Y/N is finally better, and is out of the Infirmary. But that doesn't mean the scars disappeared.

She, and Draco sat by the black lake, looking at how the sun goes down, "Just a few hours left, huh?" the girl said.

The blonde glanced at her, a small sigh leaving his lips. He put his arms around Y/N, and pulled her closer to him. Oh, how he'll miss her.

"Things will be hard, I know," he had said, playing with the girl's fingers, "But it'll be over."

For a moment, they were quiet. Y/N felt a lot of feelings at once, they weren't very positive, "I'm scared, Draco," she said, fiddling with the ring on her necklace with her free hand, "I'm scared of how things might go."

Draco kissed the top of her head, trying his best to reassure her, "I'm scared, too," he said, "I'm scared not for me, but for you, and for my mother. I want you safe," he sighed.

She looked up at Draco, a bitter smile on her face, "I wonder where second year Draco Malfoy went," she tried to joke, making the blonde laugh.

"He's grown, and matured. But deep down, he's still somewhere in there," he said, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear.

With a teasing look, Y/N said, "What about we bring him back? I sort of miss him."

Draco's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "I don't. He was a suck up prick."

"Just like how I properly met you!" Y/N laughed, "Come on, just a bit of young Draco, please!"

The blonde couldn't help but laugh, but nevertheless, he brought back his old smirk, "Well, if it isn't Y/N Black? Created mischief again, didn't you?"

Going along, the girl nodded, "As always," she winked.

Draco playfully scoffed, and said, "My father will hear about this!"

For a moment, the two looked at each other, and the next moment, they couldn't help but laugh. Y/N held her stomach as she laughed, and rolled on the ground, laughing. She calmed down a bit, wiping the tears (out of laughing) off her face, "Merlin, I'm tired," she said with a light sigh.

The blonde stood up, dusting off his arse. He walked towards the girl, and offered his hand, "Would you like to take a nap in my dorm room?"

She smiled, reaching up to take his hand, "In your arms?"

"If that's what you wish," Draco smiled, and with that, they made their way towards the Slytherin common room.

Y/N has never thought about stepping foot into the Slytherin common room. Almost all of her ancestors were Slytherins, but she never really belonged in the house of green and silver, and she knew that.

Not that she disliked Slytherins, there was nothing to hate about them (besides when in Quidditch, when they like to get rough). She remembers her biological uncle, Regulus. She wish she met him, but sadly, he passed away before she was even born.

Maybe Sirius had some stories about his brother. She'll ask when she gets home.

"I don't think I'm allowed here," Y/N chuckled as they climbed the stairs to the dorm rooms. The common room was empty, so lucky for them

Draco opened the door to his room, and said, "Since when did you care where and where you're not allowed in?"

They entered the empty dark green room, Y/N shrugging, "Makes sense," she chuckled, and looked around, "Godric, it's messy."

With a light chuckle, Draco picked up some clothes from the floor. They seemed to be his roomates', "It's a boy's dormitory, I have no idea what you expected," he said, and dumped most of the clothes on a bed that wasn't his'.

Y/N laughed, "But in all fairness, it doesn't smell bad," she shrugged, "It mostly smells like perfume, so I don't mind much."

Draco offered his hand, which Y/N took without another thought. He led the girl to his bed, laying down on it, and tapping the space beside him, "Come on, let's take a nap. Madame Promfey might kick my arse when she finds out you relapsed."

The girl smiled, and laid down beside the blonde. She scooted closer to him, and Draco wrapped his arms around her, kissing her head.

Closing her eyes, Y/N mumbled something, "Godric, this feels nice."

Draco couldn't help but chuckle, "Don't worry, I won't leave," his chest hurt at his words, "Go take a nap."

Without another thought, she slowly drifted off, and hugged Draco tighter.

The blonde just stared at his girlfriend, a hint of sadness could be seen in his eyes. But there was no other way to keep her safe other than do this.

For the past few hours, Draco just stayed there by her side, occasionally playing with her hair, or her fingertips, or just staring at her lovingly. He wanted this moment to last forever, but there was no way that that can happen.

The time came. He swallowed the lump in his throat, and slowly removed the girl's arms around him. She was fast asleep, so it wasn't hard to get out of her grasp.

He changed into a suit, and as he was fixing his tie, he looked at Y/N through the mirror sadly. A few tears escaped his eyes as he finished his tie.

Turning around, he walked towards the girl's sleeping figure, and knelt beside his bed. He tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear, and when she let out a small snore, the blonde couldn't help but chuckle.

"Merlin, only Salazar knows how much I love you," he said absentmindedly, and when he realized what he said, he smiled bitterly, "About time I realize how much I love you. But it's a bit too late, isn't it?" a bitter chuckle left his lips, "I'm doing this for you. To keep you safe. I know I said I'll stay with you, I know I promised a lot of promises- I'm sorry if I don't do them."

His tears silently rolled down his face. He looked stupid talking to Y/N's sleeping figure, but this was his farewell. He couldn't have stood her tears if she was awake. Hovering over her body, he kissed her head for the last time, and stood up, "Be safe for me, my love. Good bye, I love you," he mumbled, and with a heavy heart, he turned to go.

He didn't know, but the girl was awake, and it took everything in her to not stop him. But she knew that there was nothing she, or he could do.

When the door closed, tears fell from Y/N's closed eyes. She slowly opened them, only to know that he really has left.

He left her.

Just when he promised her that he'll never do.

So, that was depressing. Fun, huh? <3
