(A surprise chapter because why the fuck not. As for now I have written 26 chapters so I will be able to post even if I am not able to write enough during the week. As always: You re free to tell me when there is something bothering you - plot rushed, characters OOC whatever - Enjoooyyyy!)

Armin's POV

The uniformed man stared at him as if he were a ghost. How could he blame him for the reaction? Grabbing the piece of paper had been important.

Important because that way he wouldn't suspect him of stealing any interesting document he could have found. For a second, he felt guilt pool in his stomach when the sharp edge of the crumpled sheet poked the front of his pants.

But it had to be.

They needed the information.

Eren needed the information. None of them could afford wasting any more time.

"The people there are injured. Harmless!" Armin stood his ground although his mind was screeching that he should flee from the taller man who was watching him like a hawk. He had to do everything in his power to withstand the instinct to look down to check if the man could see what Armin was hiding there.

"They are still from Marley. Still the enemy."

Enemy. Allie. Foe. Friend.

"They are not. Someone simply chose that they were meant to be the enemy.", Armin defended them, knowing enough after a few weeks of rummaging through documents, books, hidden records and notes in old shelves, behind books or under old floorboards.

King Grisha might have tried to hide everything away to convince the people living under his rule that he was the good one in this whole spectacle. If people knew the truth about what happened that led to this war...

When he had told Eren, sitting next to him on the creaking bed in the small room they shared, his best friend had stared at nothing for the rest of the night. He hadn't slept. He hadn't eaten the next day until Mikasa forced some bread down his throat to keep him from losing any more weight.

"They attacked us! They attacked Shiganshina and opened the battlefield for Marley and Eldia.", the man replied, a soft scowl on his face as if he was thinking about something distracting. Did he see the corpses in front of his eyes? The damage? All the wrong corners they had taken? Every wrong decision that had led to more unnecessary death and destruction?

Armin kept silent. Revealing what he knew about the ostensible attack in Shiganshina meant revealing that he was there or had at least a clue of what really happened. And that revelation would connect him to Eren.

Who had changed his name, changed his appearance, changed his accent and done everything in his power to go unnoticed to carry out the plan for which all of them risked their heads.

The man's eyes laid on him and Armin shifted self-consciously from one foot to the other, crossing the arms in front of his body. He played with his fingers, desperately looking for anything else to look at than the tall and commanding...man.

He would have liked to ask him for his name but the uniform told him enough.

He belonged to the army of King Grisha. Getting close to him would surely be an advantage for them. The more the merrier.

But Armin didn't have that rage in himself that kept fueling Eren's suicidal plans. The rage that enabled him to throw every morality over board and just do what he had to do to get back what was rightfully his.
