"Have you ever liked Renjun? Like romantically?"

"Fucking what?"

Mark giggled to himself, flopping sideways on the couch with his phone in his clutch.

"No?" Donghyuck spluttered, trying to make sense of the random question thrown at him.

"Really?" Mark rolled onto his back with furrowed eyebrows, "like never?"

Donghyuck chuckled, "is it that surprising?"

Mark chuckled, subconsciously shrugging, "lil bit." He placed his phone up on the arm rest and placed his hands on his stomach.

Donghyuck fell into a fit of giggles, mumbling "why" over and over under his breath. Mark smiled brightly, catching Donghyuck's contagious laughter and giggling himself.

"I mean," Donghyuck spoke through his laughter, "I think I get where you're coming from, but nah I've never liked him like that."

"Ah damn," Mark snapped his fingers, "an outlier."

Donghyuck laughed even harder, audible rustling heard over the speaker. "What do you even mean?" The flop of sheets hitting the mattress echoed though.

Mark exhaled, breaking into a small laugh at the end of his breath, "No, it's just, Jeno, Jisung and I all realised that at one point in our lives we all liked Renjun."

Donghyuck choked, howling with laughter now, the sound of him rolling around coming through in rustles, "what the fuck."

"No I'm serious," Mark giggled, "even Jaemin said he did."

Donghyuck loudly facepalmed, his laughter getting muffled now as what Mark assumed to be him covering his mouth. Mark's cheeks slowly dusted pink with the imagery of Donghyuck laughing, his own smile getting bigger and brighter as he thought about him wrapped and swaddled up with a grin.

"I'm sorry to be the outlier in your thesis," Donghyuck snorted.

Mark tutted, "as you should be." He sighed to himself, tapping at his chest.

"The real question is why didn't any of you tell him?" Donghyuck chuckled.

Mark's heart fluttered slightly as he took in a stuttered breath. He smiled to himself, "I guess I was just waiting for someone special."

"Is that someone meeee?" Donghyuck jokingly asked.

Mark exhaled with a smile, "I really hope so."

Because if Mark Lee wanted anyone to hold, I had to be Donghyuck. Lee Donghyuck, the one person who could occupy Mark's brain 24/7 and he'd be completely okay with it. Cause, at this point, he had convinced himself that if Donghyuck ever left him, nothing would ever hurt more. Not even his stupid ass sun allergy. Cause nothing could pierce the remnants of his dead soul like Donghyuck leaving him in any sort of form. Stuck with him forever, that's all Mark wanted. For it to stick.

For him to still be here at the end of the day.

A moment of silence passed, Mark turning his head to his phone on the armrest. Mark's heart dropped for a moment as Donghyuck didn't respond until a quiet voice came through the speaker.

"Welp, guess I am that someone."

Mark sat up panickedly, "wait no no no, you don't have to be, I mean I don't actually mind, I was just saying. You don't need to like me back. I was just-"

Donghyuck chuckled, cutting off Mark's rambling, "no no, I want to be that someone."

Mark's heart rate slowly calmed down as he sank back into the couch cushions. He mumbled a short "oh" as he began to breathe easier.

Donghyuck sighed quietly, before he softly laughed, "I guess the reason I never...fancied Renjun is cause...I wanted to know you better, hyung."

Mark gradually let himself smile as he listened to the younger.

"I just...I think I wanted...I wanted to be someone, anyone, in your life the moment I met you." Donghyuck chuckled as the sound of sheets rustled beside him. "Of course being someone you love romantically has always been the goal," he faintly chuckled, "but anyone to you would've been fine with me."

Mark hummed. "An enemy?"

"Preferably not, but I was gonna take what I could get."

Mark let his head fall slightly as he laughed, "Hm, an enemies to lovers."

"This isn't an ao3 fic, calm down, Mark."

Mark snorted, "why not, huh?"

Donghyuck scoffed, a smile evident in his tone, "this is a wattpad fic at best."

Mark raised his arms, all bruised and scratched from the fucking sunlight. "Probably."

A short laugh was heard from the other side of the speaker. Mark sat up and reached for the cushion at his feet. Lying back, he squeezed it to his chest as he raised his knees up. Mark pursed his lips together, tilting his head toward his phone as they sat in silence.

"You're my someone special, that's all I want." Mark reached his hand behind the armrest, brushing the orange fabric under his fingertips, waiting in the quiet. He let his eyes flutter shut, basking in the darkness of his home, the warmth in the lack of light encompassing his entire being, letting him lie there in its comfort like it always had.

Donghyuck exhaled a gentle breath, "my everything, my someone special."
