what happened during those years?

chapter 22

After the movie was over,we both got out of the room.
"Well what do you wanna do now?"
'can we eat somewhere?'
"Sure"

We got out of the place and began to look for a nearby restaurant.
"Hey kid,i forgot to ask..how old are you now?"
'im 7 now'
"Nice"

I finally spotted a restaurant near a flower shop.
We walked towards it and the smell of food hits my nose as i got in.
"Come on let's sit over there"i pointed to a table that is by the window with two chairs.

He nods before we both walked to our table.
I helped him sit down on the table before i sat on mine.
A waiter comes with two menus on her hand not long after.

"Hello there what can I get for you two?"
She asks politely with a smile on her face.
I look through the menu and decided to get beef steak.
"I'll just get a beef steak,what about you kid?"

He gives me the menu and pointed at the cake section.
"Oh right it's your birthday.well what flavor do you want?"
He pointed at the strawberry flavor one.

"we'll get the strawberry cake aswell"
"Okay..what about the drinks?"she said while writing the orders on the paper.
"I'll just have an espresso and you?"

Danny points to the strawberry milkshake.
"And he will have the strawberry milkshake"
She wrote all of the order on the paper before she picks up the two menus.

"I'll be right back with your orders,also happy birthday to your son!"she smiles before walking away.
"He isn't my son but okay"

Danny sat there playing with his plushie that i got him.
"Hey..does your mother always forgets your birthday?"
'last year she almost forgot but she completely forgot it this year'
"Sheesh..she's such a sh*tty mother"
'language'

I roll my eyes and placed my chin on my hand.
"Also what happened to your father anyway?William told me that you don't have a father"
He looks down and frowned before writing on his notebook
'mommy said he left us before i was born'
"Oh um sorry i didn't know.."

He nodded and continues to play with the plush.
The waiter comes back with our food and drinks 10 minutes later.
I thanked her and she walks off.

Danny takes a sip of his milkshake and licks his lips.
"You have a thing for strawberrys or something?"
'I like strawberrys'
"Guessed it"

I cut the cake and placed it on his plate,so Danny could eat.
He takes a spoonfull of the cake and shoves it into his mouth.
"Slow down kid,you don't want to choke while eating that"

He nods and eats another spoon.

"Me too kid,but where do you wanna go next?"
'i don't know'
"You know what let's get you a present"

He grins happily and nods.
I held his hand and went back to the car.
I helped him got in and i buckled his seatbelt.
I got in as well before buckling mine.

I began driving to the mall that is probably 20 minutes away from here.
While driving to the mall i kept thinking of what William's answer will be.
Will he say yes or no?

Danny is asleep in the back of the car while holding the plush.
He is basically my son now
Me and William is the one who gives him attention
Not his mother

William haven't introduced him yet to the other children
I think Danny would love to see them
He needs someone to play with if me and William are busy
(That sounds kinda sus)

We finally arrived at the mall and i woke Danny up.
I unbuckled both of our seatbelts before getting out of the car.
I helped him get down before closing the car door.

We walked to the building and as we got in,we are greeted by the sounds of people and music.
Its loud as f*ck..

Danny looks around in awe and i cant blame him.
It's probably been a long time since he went to a mall.

I'm going to go home after this
Im too tired after all that
I'm just going to tell William to grab the parts for me

Right now I'm driving Danny back to his house since i don't feel safe about him walking alone anymore.
The police caught a pedophile yesterday on the news and that made feel worried.

I see his house in the distance,it's a two story house with white painted on the outside walls.
As we got there,i got out of the car with Danny.

He opens the door easily before getting in.
"You didn't lock the door?"
He shook his head no
"Why not?a robber could get in and rob the place if you don't lock it"
'i don't know how to lock doors'

I sighed and shakes my head.
"I should teach you how tomorrow,i don't want your house to get robbed or something"
'why not now?'
"I'm tired that's why"

I feel small arms hugging my legs and i look to see Danny.
I smiled before kneeling down so I'm his size and i hugged him back.
