Do you ever think that even if the pillarmen got the red stone, they would all become the ultimate being? Personally, I think that Kars made the other pillarmen think that he cared for them, so he could use them to find the stone faster.
I think he would either have killed or fought the other pillarmen so he could be the only powerful one since he is the oldest and the most "powerful". This could also be another reason why he left Santana behind. Because Santana knew about his plan.
