I Get Lost

I walked through the back of head quarters, searching for Adelaide.

I, like the genius I am, had forgotten to charge my phone, which was currently at 0%.

Which meant I had no way to contact anyone.

Yay me!

I wandered around absent-mindedly, for almost 15 minutes before I realised I was lost. The place was huge. And for some unknown reason, not a lot of people were around today.

So I tried re-tracing my steps, before I realised it was hopeless. I had confused myself even futher.

I checked my watch.

It had been more than two hours since I got here! I was really starting to get desperate now.

So I cracked. I did something I promised myself I wouldn't do again unless it was an emergency.

Quickly, I looked around. There was still no one around. I was really trying to avoid doing this. I waited for a minute or two more, before I realised no one was coming. It was better to just get this over with.

I pulled my dead phone out of my pocket, and placed it face up, on my outstretched palm.

I closed my eyes and concentrated.

My phone grew warm in my hand, the way it does when it charges. Tempted to open my eyes, I snuck a peek. It was working! My phone had almost charged to hundred percent.

But that's when I heard it.

Whispers... Calling my name...

I lost my concentration. Startled, I dropped my phone.

I lunged to grab it, but before I could, somebody grabbed my waist and turned me around.

A man, I deduced. I picked my arm up to punch him or hit him, or get him to let me go, but nearly screamed when I saw his face.

Warden Dexter. My torturer.

"Imani. It's been some time since I've seen your pretty face..."

~~~~~~
I woke up screaming. Tears flowed freely down my face.
My charm was starting to weaken.
And I had fallen asleep for the first time in a year.
