I frowned at the name on my screen.

"What is your mummy's name, Irene?"

"Adelaide."

"What did she say?" Charles asked from behind me.

I turned to face him.

"You didn't know either?"

Charles shook his head.

"Okay, wait. There's only one person with answers right now."

I hit the call button on my phone screen.

The phone rang and rang and rang, but no one answered.

And Addie always answered her phone.

Something was wrong here.

"Addie's not answering her phone."

"What the hell? Wait let me try."

My eyes widened. That was the first time I'd heard Charles come close to swearing. Which meant even he knew something was wrong.

I waited for Charles' to call Addie while I tried calming Irene down, a thousand questions running through my head.

"I want to see my mummy. Where is she?" Tears streamed even faster down Irene's face.

My heart tugged with guilt. I pulled Irene closer and wiped her eyes.

"Shhh, it's okay Irene, we'll find your mama."

I picked her up and stood. Irene wrapped her arms around my neck, burying her face in my shoulder, sobbing quietly.

"Any luck?" I asked Charles.

"No, she's still not answering. Maybe we should go see if she's in her room. We can't leave Irene here."

"You're right. Come on, let's go find Addie."

This time up, Charles and I took the elevator, seeing as I was still carrying Irene. Charles offered to take her from me, but I thought she was comfortable, so I declined his offer.

An old lady got into the elevator with us. She smiled kindly at us.

"Is that your daughter?" She asked us.

Charles blushed, and I choked over my words.

"No!" I exclaimed. "She's a friend's daughter."

"Oh. That's a pity. You two would make very good parents."

My eyes widened and Charles frowned.

"How do you know that?" He asked the lady.

"I just do. The two of you are a very sweet couple."

"Oh, we aren't a couple. We're just friends."

The old lady chuckled at me.

"One day, sweetheart. One day, you'll back at this and laugh, knowing I was right."

I smiled uncomfortably, and Charles turned even redder.

"Oh, look it's our floor!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the elevator.

The two of us walked down the corridor to Addie's hotel room. Charles rang the bell.

"Charles, you're still holding my hand."

"No, I'm not."

"No, I'm sure you are."

"And I'm sure I'm not."

"You definitely are Charles."

"I'm not!"

"Okay, fine then. You aren't." I smiled michieviously.

I leaned over and pecked him on the cheek.

Charles immediately let go of my hand, choosing instead to touch the spot where I kissed him.

"You're blushing..." I taunted.

Charles ignored me.

"Addie's still not answering the door."

Then, just as we were about to lose hope, the door opened.

Lando stood there, looking at us.

"What are you guys doing here?"

Suddenly, anger surged in me.

"Where is Adelaide?"

"Here I am. What's up?"

Addie appeared at the doorway behind Lando.

I glared at her.

"Care to explain?" I asked.

Addie looked at me confused, until she saw Irene.

"She's supposed to be at the play area. What is she doing here?"
