Chapter 67

I didn't sleep. It wasn't anything new, but tonight, I wasn't exactly sleeping because I was trying to figure out what I would tell Lexi in the morning.

Also, now that it was the night and it was dark, I could just feel that the nightmares wouldn't leave me alone tonight and I wouldn't make the guys potentially live through me screaming like a manic in the middle of the night.

So I just tossed and turned like an overthinking idiot.

In the morning, for some reason, the twins walked in my room and both threw themselves on my bed

"Whaaaaat iiiiiis thiiiiiis?" I whined smooshed by twins.

"You've been pooooutyyy," one of them whined, while they just seemed to press their weight more, to smother me.

"Ohmygod, get off you bozos," I laughed, trying to push them away.

They fought against me a little more, and then settled in a way that didn't cut off my air supply.

"What do you waaaant?" I whined.

"Why are you pouty?" one of them asked.

Clearly, my foul mood hadn't passed unnoticed this week. It was a nice feeling to know my friends had noticed.

Sometimes I think I was a little sad because my friends hadn't figured out all my problems. But I was the one that wasn't opening up to them. They weren't mind readers. They couldn't know what was wrong with me. And this, right now, it proved that they noticed.

"Because I'm tired, and I overreact, and it's nothing really, don't worry," I answered. My foul mood was definitely not something to worry about.

Whatever was going on with Lexi, I was going to fix today.

"Was I the only one annoyed with Clark last night?" one of the twins suddenly asked.

"His stories are just gross. And all fake. I don't get why he needs to keep talking sometimes," the other added.

"He's gotta prove something to himself," I replied, patting the back of whichever twin was under my right arm.

That something probably being that he was actually attracted the girls and not boys.

He should accept the inevitable. We'd all support him more if he did.

Because this? What he was saying and doing lately? That was not it.

"He goes to pee often in the night. I think he went twice," I pointed out.

I didn't want to proclaim myself knowledgeable in the medical stuff, but I was pretty sure diabetes or sleep apnea were some of the things that could cause having to pee often at night. Maybe Clark needed to go see a doctor.

He definitely needed to go see a therapist.

"We have plastic wrap," one of the twins said quietly.

I contained my laughter. Noooo. "Are we going to be awful human beings?"

"I think we're going to be awful human beings."

We chatted a little more about nonsense and then we all headed to the bigger cabin to make breakfast.

I wondered if Lexi was up.

If she was up, I'd ask her to go on a walk or something, so we could talk, just the two of us.

When we got inside, Lexi was nowhere to be seen, and Janna told me the last time she had seen her, she was still in bed.
