April 1918

We were informed that we are going to be moved in Yekaterinburg in the the Ural Mountains. Again. Alexei is terribly ill and cannot come with us so Olga, Maria and Anastasia volunteered to stay with him as long as our tutor.  Me and Maria were chosen to accompany Mama and Papa to Yekaterinburg.

I packed my things and left some here like my knitted stuff and such.

"Its sad to see you go" Olga says behind.

"I know, but i have too" I turned around and faced her.

"Promise you'll write us letters?"

"Promise" i smiled as i pulled her in for a hug.

"Dont worry we'll see eachother soon" i muttered.

"Why can't you stay here with us, with Alexei" she cried out.

"I can't"

"Its time to go" Maria informed.

I pulled away from the hug and grabbed my bags and left the room. I said my goodbye's to my sister's.

"Please update us once you get there" Olga shouts.

I saw Alexei in the window being carried by our tutor. I blowed a little kiss before i hopped on the carriage. I waved goodbye to him as the carriage left the house.

"I dont like being apart from them" Maria says as she shedded a tear.

"Dont worry, neither do i"

"No not the Ural Mountains again" i muttered.

"You dont like the Ural Mountains?" Maria questioned.

"No, so is Papa" i replied.

"I dont know but the Ural Mountains for me is the best" She smiled.

"Not for me" i chuckled.

------------

The train ride to Yekaterinburg was tiring i slept on the whole journey, its quite sad i missed seeing the outside world again.

We were moved to a carriage. The ride to what they call the 'Ipatiev House' is.... creepy. It was surrounded by trees and large fences. I remember seeing this back in 1910 when we were visiting Andrei's family to mourn for his death and i got bad feeling when i passed this house. My right arm ached so badly that i needed it to get massaged before heading back to St. Petersburg.

The windows are painted white. All of it are whitewashed fully restricting us from seeing the outside world. It means no more waving to people outside. It became a daily habit for us in Tobolsk.

We entered inside. Everything is dark and cold. Me and Maria headed to our room and started unpacking. I tried to peek from the small whole in the window but it did nothing i still can't see anything outside. Why is it has to be so dark in here? Its like a haunted house.

"I dont like it here already" Maria says turning on a lamp.

I tried to close the doors but one of the officers stopped it and opened it wide.

"What the hell?" I glared at the officer "Privacy please?"

"Unfortunately closing doors is not allowed especially at night" he states.

I letted out a heavy sigh and rolled my eyes. "Well can you atleast leave?"

"No"

I sighed again and turned away from him. Annoyed.

"No they don't even know what privacy means" i said to Maria.

"Isn't that harrasment? Maria says.

"Yes, especially we are a young woman"

I looked back at the guard and find him staring at us with a hint of mischief behind his eyes.

"Can you please not stare at us?" I demanded. He switched places with his gun trying to scare us. "That doesn't work on me".

"Your getting in my nerves" he warned.

"Sofia, no" Maria grips my arm.

I sighed and continued to unpack my things.

"Are you not really scared of anything but the darkness and being left alone at night?" Maria questions out of the blue.

"I dont know" i said as i tried to open the window for fresh air but its locked. What in the world is wrong with this house?

This is not just a simple house this is...

A Prison jail.

And we are the prisoners.

Not like in Tobolsk when we had the freedom to walk outside and open the windows for fresh air.

It was a lot merrier in Tobolsk than here in Ekaterinburg.

"The windows are locked" Maria says as she tries to open the other window.

"I know"

"How are we going to get fresh air?" She looks at me.

"Then we'll just go outside and walk. If they allow us to" i said.

"And what if we aren't allowed?" She raises her eyebrow.

"I dont know" i crossed my arms.

Maria sighed and sat in her bed and puts her pillow on her face.

I feel bad for her. She wasn't like me who loved to spend time indoors than outdoors and make friends. Its gonna be hard for her to adjust here than in Tobolsk there we had strict rules but we had freedom to walk around outside. And of course i know all of us are different.

I sat in the table and wrote Olga a letter with one of our portraits beside me. I told her everything her in Ekaterinburg but just as Tatiana say's i have to be careful about what i write this time.

I re-read the letter again and its okay for me a few scribbles but its all fine. Now where do i send this.

I walked down the hallway ignoring the officer that was guarding the door to our room.

"Where are you going?" One of the officers asks.

I stopped and faced him "Im just going to send this letter".

"Oh i can and by the way here's a letter from someone" he says handing me a letter. From George. Its been a long time since we had contact with eachother.

I ran back to my room and sat in my bed and read the the letter

"Dear Sofia,

I have some great news for you! My wife is pregnant! We expect the baby to arrive in December! I dont know why but im just so excited! Anyways how are you? Its been a long time. How is it there? Are you still in Russia? Are you and your family doing great? Please update me, im worried about you because your not responding to any of my letters. Please keep safe and May God be with you

-georgie.

I smiled as i held the letter to my chest. Im so happy for them having their first child. Oh i wish i get to see the baby. I bet he/her is going to be a beautiful/handsome baby.

"Oh a new letter who is it from?" Maria smirked.

Why do they always smirk everytime i just receive a letter from anyone?

"Oh from George he said that his wife is pregnant!" I exclaimed.

"Oh my! That is such wonderful news! Can i write to him as well?" She smiles.

"Sure"

I wrote to George first then she wrote her letter at the bottom of mine.

"I wish i get to see the baby!" Maria says.

"I know me too" i smiled.
