Noelle's POV

I think I've made a step longer than my legs... Once we got closer to the walls and began to see horrors displayed like decorations for a house, not only we were shaken to the core but we forced ourselves to not stop. Heading to our first base we immediately saw the difference in skills on the enemies that stepped in our path, but thanks to Luck, Asta and Captain Yami, we opened a way to the base. Once there, we encountered the golden Hellion and.... It's a beast that belongs to a very different league. It's completely immune to all elements, it's so powerful it can cut things for miles away, it's so fast it matches Luck's lightning speed... It was terrifying fighting it without messing anything up, otherwise death would've knocked on our door without invitation. We won but we also got injuries. Nothing dangerous, but still damaged at the very first stop, which is not good when we have many more ahead of us.

That's why I made the decision that put me in trouble. We were heading to the next base, and I decided to stay behind to let my teammates go ahead while I was taking care of the monsters. I was doing my job pretty good I shall say, the training was paying off until a new type of Hellion showed up before me. I'd rather fight the gold one again than this black and consumed one...
I keep fleeing to hide, dodge to save my life but I have nowhere else to run, this giant formidable and corrupted creature will slay me like the people underneath my feet, soaking in their own blood and intestines.

Noelle, don't give up. Fight it.

Y/n's voice echoes in my mind, but it makes me more frustrated. Easy to say when you have the powers of a Lord; I do not have any of that! How am I supposed to fight something powerful without power!?

"Excuse me, I have a few things to say to the lady you are threatening." the Hellion roars lowly to mimic a humanoid question sound, and when it turns it get punched straight to its head. "Thank you kindly for your cooperation." as the beast flies and collidea against something, Y/n marches over me with her hands on her waist.

"Don't get me started, ok?" I say crossing my arms and looking the other way. She's gonna scold me for not doing what she expected of me.

"I didn't say anything yet, you know?" she raises a brow and tilts her head.

"Yes you did. You told me to not give up and fight... That thing." I point my finger at her and continue to vent my stress out. "I am not capable of fighting it! I don't have someone helping me to get super powers."

"Who told you I'm not here to help you on killing that Hellion with your own super powers?"

"I am not you Y/n, whatever you say it's not gonna work, ok? Just end this fight and let's move on."

"Actually, we're not moving until we solve this issue right here." with a head gesture, the Hellion that teleported next to us gets chained and forced to kneel until its head smashes the ground. "Why do you always keep comparing yourself to me? I come from another world, I have different knowledge, a different life, a different everything. Stop it, you're strong enough to kill this Hellion all alone, but if you keep comparing yourself with others, you'll never see your potential."

"Easy to say when you're not human anymore." I murmur under my breath.

"Easy to always run away and hide behind excuses, isn't it? But look where your excuses brought you." she points at the beast that still tries to break free, in vain. "I am still human Noelle, I just live much longer than others. And before becoming a Lord, I was as normal as you, remember? My bones broke as easy as yours, my body was scarred as easy as yours could, don't tell me you forgot how many scars there are under the clothes I wear."
