Society's Roots

The tree have bounded us
That has tethered our decisions
And we ceded in the midnight air
Coming to the tower
We hung on to that freely

We were looped
In time, in peace, in lies- on our necks
And snakes that hung on the tree
Constricted us with immensity
Together, we meet the dead man
Together, we greet the strangers

Are you, with me, him and her
Run to the tower
So we'd reach the gates
And we dream of it
Not strung up on anything
Side by side, we run

None of the midnight, nor the tree
We, and the strangers, and the strangest
Come to the point of verdancy
So we can hang in to something;

Hang in the tree
The path we will flee
Hang till we see
The way to set us free
