We get out of the car, Andrew and I are laughing at Grace's singing. She insisted we blast an upbeat version of the alphabet song and she belted all the way to the ice cream shop. Andrew was tense but he could never be upset when Grace started to sing. We walked into the shop with big smiles and Gracie screamed in excitement. Andrew and I look at each other and shake our heads.
"Gracie! No screaming or Mommy and I are going to take you straight home." Andrew scolds her, he really did seem to be back to his normal self.
She turns around and gives him a small frown, "B-but Daddy! Jack and Uncle Aaron are here! See! Can I go say hi?"
Andrew lets out a heavy breath, "Sure sweetie but let's make it quick."
The three of us walk up to Aaron and Jack. The closer we get to their table Andrew wraps his arm around my waist tightly.
I was barely speaking but that made me say, "What are you doing, Andrew?"
He looked at me and raised an eyebrow, "I'm holding my wife, what else?"
I swat away his arm, "Ex-wife, pig. Ex-wife."
We laugh and Grace runs up to Jack smiling.
"Jack!"
"Grace!"
"Hello, Hotch," Andrew says, trying to be polite.
I try to play everything off, "Hey, Hotchner fancy seeing you here! Gracie, Jack, why don't you guys pick out some ice cream for me."
"Hello you two, how are you?" Hotch gives us a half-smile and I noticed he rubbed his fingers together.
"Good, Y/n, and I just wanted to treat Grace tonight. Hey, listen, man, I have to apologize for my behavior the last time I saw you all." Andrew scratched the back of his neck, smiled at him. He really has been working on himself.
Aaron clears his throat, "It's forgiven. Don't worry about it... Jack and I were just about to leave. You guys have a nice night."
"Y-yeah, you too Hotch." I felt my soul leave my body, Andrew just apologized to Aaron. The last time they saw each other Aaron and I had sex, a lot of it. Talk about guilt!
"Come on Jack let's go," Aaron signals for Jack to follow him.
Aaron's POV
"But Dad, Gracie and Aunty Y/n just got here!" Jack whined.
"Jack, what did I just say?" I cocked my brow.
"Okay..." He slowly follows behind me.
We leave the ice cream shop just in time. I couldn't stand seeing Y/n with Andrew's arm around her. I buckle Jack into his car seat and drive home. Once we get home I tuck Jack into bed and walk out into the living room. I keep racking my brain at the sight of Y/n and Andrew together, laughing. What if she decides to stay with him?
_______________
I got into the office earlier than usual knowing that Y/n and I would be speaking at lunch. As I start on the pile of files on my desk I see the glass door open, allowing Y/n to walk in and start her day. She looked gorgeous, she was wearing a black dress that hugged her every curve. I hope Andrew didn't see her in it this morning.
An hour later there is a knock on my door, "Come in."
"Hey there, handsome," Y/n walks in and gives me a small smile.
I look up from my paperwork and smile, " Agent Y/L/N. How can I help you?"
Lena sighed and frowned, "I-I can't do lunch today..."
"Oh, okay... How about dinner then?" I said, hoping to hear a yes.
Y/n walk's further into my office, "Aaron, I can't, not with Andrew at the house. He'll be gone by Friday night. Why don't we have breakfast on Saturday morning?"
I nod my head, "I can't say I'm not disappointed, but if it takes me waiting until Saturday so I can see you, then so be it."
She bit her lip, feeling bad, "I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you."
"Did you see Andrew this morning?" I asked quickly, my imagination running wild.
"N-No, I didn't, why?" She seemed confused.
I look at her body up and down, "No reason..."
"Mhmm, I'll see you Saturday, that's a promise." She smirks and walks away, swaying her hips more than usual.
I watch her walk away and frown thinking about the life we don't share together. I don't get to see her clothes in the closet, I don't get to open her mail. I don't know all the jokes she tells or the songs she hums. Sure, I get to have her in my arms just about every night, but that all ends by morning. We have to go back to playing pretend. Is this how it's always going to be?
However, I feel that when she's in my arms, she's where she wants to be. We don't have many memories and the time we spend together is always cut short. I doubt she'd spend the holidays with me. She doesn't have my last name, she doesn't wear my ring and there's no piece of paper saying that she's mine. She says she loves me and I believe it's true, doesn't that make her mine? At the end of the day, I'd rather have fifty percent of her or any percent of her, than all of anybody else at all. That's what I've been thinking about.
*Knock, Knock*
"Hey, Aaron?" Rossi knocks on my door, taking me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah?" I look up from my files.
"We have a case," he says.
I nod and follow Dave into the conference room and take a seat. We were just waiting for JJ and Y/n to walk into the room. As I look up from my watch. JJ strides into the room.
"Y/n will be meeting us on the tarmac. Let's begin."
We all nod and focus our attention on the screen in front of us. The minute the crime scene photos flash onto the screen I knew we had to leave as soon as possible. JJ continues with her speech when I cut in.
"Okay, wheels up in twenty." I watch the team trickle out of the office, but I hold JJ back, "JJ? What's holding up, Y/L/N?"
"I believe it's something to do with Andrew; however, she promised to make it before take-off. I'll make sure to catch her up," JJ smiled.
I nod and walk away, quickly.
