This morning everything went smoothly. I was able to get into work early, grab some coffee for Aaron and me, and I called to confirm my appointment.
We were so excited, we'd get to see the baby and hear its heartbeat. I told Aaron that we had to leave at twelve o'clock exactly. It was funny seeing the stoic Aaron Hotchner doing a little dance of joy.
It was eleven fifty and I started to shut down my computer and get my purse together. Aaron walked out of his office and up to my desk.
"Are you ready to go?" His lip slightly curled upwards.
'Yes! The sooner the better." My eyes darted from his lips to eyes.
Aaron and I sneaked out of the bullpen, we both looked like giddy teenagers. Once we were in the car we couldn't stop smiling and talking about baby names.
"Okay, how about Philip?" He suggested.
"No! No, no. How about if it's a girl... Mia?" I wiggled my brows and smiled.
Aaron shook his head, "Mmmm, too short. What about Charlotte and we call her Charlie for short."
I squinted my eyes and thought about it, "Huh, I don't hate it! Oh, I got a good one! For a boy, how about James?"
"I actually really like that," He smiles and holds my thigh.
I chuckle, "Charlotte Hotchner, James Hotchner... so far those are the runner-ups."
We finally made it to the doctor's office, I signed in and we waited. And waited. And wai-
"Y/n Y/l/n." A nurse called out.
"Oh, that's us," I tapped on Aaron's knee.
The nurse walks us into a room and takes down some basic information. She left and told us the doctor would be with us shortly.
I was looking at my emails and remembered, "Aaron when we get back to the office I'm going to need help with a report from a case like four months ago. I found some discrepancies."
"I have a meeting when we get back. I can help you afterward," he looks up from checking his emails.
"That works for me," I smile.
Just then the doctor walks in, "Hello, I'm Doctor Stanton."
"Hello," Aaron put his phone away.
I did the same, "Hi."
"So it looks like you're bringing a baby Y/l/n into the world," our doctor smiled.
"That's my maiden name, it's a baby Hotchner," I corrected her.
She nodded, "Wonderful, baby Hotchner. Today, we'll take your vitals and get you an ultrasound. You'll be able to see the baby and hear its heartbeat. Do you know how far along you are?"
"I believe I'm three weeks along, but I'm not certain. This isn't my first pregnancy, but this time the anxiety and nausea have been more intense." I took a shallow breath.
The doctor tilted her head, smiling, "Okay, we'll look into that for you. Let's begin shall we?"
We nod and Aaron holds my hand as the Doctor draws some of my blood. Though I've seen brutal and gruesome things in my life, I hated needles especially if I'm having to endure them. She leaves to go run some tests.
"How are you feeling?"Aaron asks, knowing my disdain for needles.
"Whoozy," I chuckled. " Aaron, can you believe this is happening?" I laid back in my chair.
Aaron lets out a hearty chuckle, "No, babe I can't. It comes and goes in waves. I'll think to myself 'what a great day we're having,' then minutes later I think, 'I'm going to have a baby.' There's going to be nights where I don't sleep at all."
