The next few days went on as usual, with no away cases.  There was just paperwork and consultations. The kids were so happy to have you both around for more than four days. It felt like Christmas to them.

Rossi planned a last-minute dinner party and you were so ready to have a good meal that you didn't have to cook! You were also happy to be relaxing with your BAU family. You and Aaron dropped the kids off at your sister's house and made your way to Rossi's. Aaron had a hard time keeping his eyes off of you. You didn't have anything special on but you guessed it was special enough to him. He couldn't stop smiling, you felt so lucky to have him in your life as your partner.

You pulled into the driveway and Aaron ran to the passenger side and opened your door. As you walked into Rossi's home candles lined the hallway leading out to the backyard. It looked romantic, this wasn't usually the atmosphere that Rossi went with. Aaron held your hand as he walked under a lit tree.

"Where is everyone?" You asked, looking around your surroundings.

"Hey, honey?" Aaron says, making you turn around.

Your eyes go wide as you see Aaron on one knee...

"Aaron-"

"Will you marry me, Y/n Y/l/n?" He asks with a wide smile and glossy eyes.

You swallow the lump in your throat, "Aaron, p-please stand up."

Aaron's eyebrows furrow, "W-What?"

You take a deep breath, "Don't do this. Not here, not now."

Aaron stands up and the team tries to sneak back into the house but you spot them. Emily and JJ give you a sad smile and rush everyone inside. Aaron on the other hand begins to pace, rubbing his fingers together.

"I don't understand, I thought you'd be ready for the next step by now. Have I done something wrong?"

"No, baby, not at all. But I am not ready to take that step yet. I'm sorry I-"

Aaron looks down at the floor with his hands on his hips, "No, I really don't understand. I mean, you're pregnant with our daughter, we live together, w-we love each other so much. Please, tell me you're joking."

You bite your lip and frown, "I'm not. I can't marry you, Aaron, not right now. I just got full custody of Gracie, I had to fight my ex-husband to keep my daughter from any danger. I am not ready. I trust you, I do, but I have so much to work through before I even consider marriage again."

"Well, you better work fast, "Aaron clenched his fist and jaw.

Your ears rang and your heart broke as you heard his tone, "What?"

Aaron chuckled and shook his head, "We have so much going for us, our lives are great, we are great. The kids are doing amazing and you don't want to marry me? You haven't wanted to marry me for a while, I-I thought you'd be ready by now. So figure it out, Y/n."

You took a step back and began to gesture with your hands "What are you saying? Are you saying that if I don't make up my mind soon, we're done?"

He sighed and ran his hand through his hair, "I'm not sure... I haven't thought about that yet."

Your eyes went wide, "Wow, and you want me to marry you... I'm going to go home now, I need some space."

You walk through the house, holding in your tears. The team looks at you and tries to talk to you.

"Hey Y/n/n it's-"

"It's nothing, Penelope. Good night everyone." You grab your purse quickly and rush home.

As you left Aaron ran into the house, looking for you. "Where is she? Did she leave already?"

"Yes, Aaron she did." Rossi slowly shook his head.

JJ sighed, "Hotch, she really needs her space..."

Aaron pulled out his phone, searching for your number, "Did you all hear everything?"

Emily looked down at the ground, "Ya, Hotch, we did."

Hotch just stood there and nodded. He called for a taxi and left Rossi's. The team gathered around the dinner table, quiet for a moment until Morgan spoke up.

"I even knew she wasn't ready. How could he miss this?"

Emily nodded, "Did he approach you, Rossi? I knew she wasn't ready but I had hope."

Penelope sighed, " I was so excited! They're both dumbos."

Rossi chuckled, "That they are... He didn't talk to me beforehand but as soon as he told  his plan, I knew she'd say no."

"I hope they can mend this, it seemed like Hotch gave Y/n an ultimatum. Y/n hates ultimatums," Spencer said, bouncing his leg.

---------------

As chaos ensued in your mind, you couldn't help but think that Aaron just gave you an ultimatum. You ran into your restroom and hurled into the toilet. You took a quick shower and put on your robe. You started to pace knowing Aaron would be home shortly. You weren't sure if he was going to continue the conversation or shut you out completely.

You were sitting up in bed reading, chewing on your nails. You had started to worry, Aaron still wasn't home. You walked around the empty house and stopped inside Y/d/n's room. Were you being ridiculous? No, what you went through with Andrew was traumatizing. You thought Aaron would be more aware or sensitive to that aspect of your relationship.

Where is he?

You fell asleep in the rocking chair parallel to her crib and fell asleep.
