Y'all two seconds after the chapter goes up: IM HERE I RAN ACROSS THE OCEAN AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT AND IM TWO SECONDS LATE BUT IM HEREAfter the painful process of being pulled back into the Styx and back to the underworld, you and L needed a mortal day or two to gather up the energy to go back to the surface again. But now that you knew the basics of what the taskforce were up to, you could get straight into action next time.
L decided that he should take that time to do something he never really did when he was alive, rest. And he knew where to go for that.
Follow the river Lethe to the ends of Elysium and you'll find the cave homes of twins Hypnos and Thanatos. It was Hypnos he wanted to see. So far everyone he'd met has told him he should go see Hypnos. So he decided to take the walk up the river to find him. According to the map you gave him, it wasn't that far from where his chambers were but was on much higher ground so it'd be an uphill walk.
He passed the arena where all the fallen warriors fought for fun, he passed some of the healing fountains, and wove through all the glowing trees of underworld fruits. Elysium was rather pretty for being such a dark and gloomy place, there was a certain charm to it.
Finally he found the ends of the rivers, and just across the fields were the caves. Although they were technically caves, holes in the wall and stuff, they looked meticulously carved and up-kept. As to be expected of the chambers of gods. It was easy to tell who's was who's.
Thanatos' chambers had withered flowers out the front, skull pillars, ghostly carvings. Fitting for death.
And Hypnos had poppies surrounding the entrance, sliver carvings of clouds and stars decorated the pillars and that cherry tree Eurydice told L about was massive. The closer he got to the caves the darker it got, the only light coming from the few torches and candles scattered around the place. Light disturbs sleep, so naturally it would bother Hypnos and his chambers would be dark and calming.
A cloud like mist came from the entrance, swirling around L's ankles as he walked.
He wasn't actually sure what to do, everyone told him he should see Hypnos and ask for help sleeping but he'd never approached a god on his own before. You were the one that took him to hades after all. There wasn't a door he could knock on, just the darkness of the cave. Did he just... walk in?
"Don't hesitate child, I know you're there. I figured you'd come"
He jumped at the sudden voice. The gods really liked sneaking up on him huh?
"I uh... was told I should come see you" L said.
"I'm aware, come"
Walking into the darkness and taking a moment to adjust to the low light levels, he immediately felt drowsy when he stepped into Hypnos' sleepy domain. There was multiple halls and rooms, but the main one he found himself in was a dimly lit room that smelled of chamomile and had a large bed, covered in silky sheets and fluffy pillows. Stuffed animals scattered about too. A bedside table of marble had a candle and burning incense on it along with a vase of poppies and plate of cherries.
Hypnos, was hovering cross-legged over that bed, looking very tired himself. His fluffy hair floated around his shoulders and the one wing that stuck out the side of his head fluttered.
"You know Lawliet your sleep is awful. You should have called upon me when you were alive and I'd have gladly helped out" Hypnos teased.
"Honestly I didn't even think about that. I was always up late solving crimes and such" L replied.
"Why so tense? Some gods may be a bit strict I know, but not me. I'm sleep itself, I'm tranquil and calm, always tired and half asleep myself. Don't be so worried"
