Chapter 47 | risk takers

"So yeah, that's kind of what happened" you finished, the table of chthonic gods listening intently.

They were silent for a moment, not expecting you and L to actually take the risk given how careful you'd been up until now.

"Well, that will definitely speed things up. Although I'll admit I wasn't sure if you'd actually take the risk" Hades said.

"We debated for a long time but at this point we just want this case over. It's been too long, even if we've taken the death note and he can't kill much longer since he's gonna run out of papers, the case will still drag on if we don't take our chances" L explained.

"That's true, this case has been rather lengthy"

At this meeting you were to update the gods on the state of the case, and now that the book was with you and the deaths had finally slowed, Thanatos and hades had time to figure out what to do about Ryuk.

"That shinigami, has he pulled anything else?" Thanatos asked.

"No, he's staying out of it. He said he's only here to watch from now on. I don't understand that shinigami, he's so unaffected by the literal genocide and the fact he's gonna get in major trouble" you replied.

"Well lord hades and I have discussed what to do about the matter, and we're thinking after having a real harsh talking to with the shinigami king about this not happing again... we'll take Ryuk and trap him in the underworld so he can't pull any other tricks"

Something told you Ryuk wouldn't even care, he'd find the underworld more entertaining than the shinigami realm. Although hades didn't just punish bad humans, he'd punish anyone that was bad enough. So you had the feeling Ryuk might be stuck in Tartarus for a while. Though since shinigami are well... shinigami... and they can't feel pain or anything he probably wouldn't be tortured down there. Just trapped and kept a close eye on.

"I'm sure he'll have a snarky remark to say about that" L said.

"He always seems to have some remark about the situation..." Thanatos replied.

With the case explained and hopefully close to and end, and the future of Light and Ryuk being sorted out the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting would happen when the case moves forward, or worst case scenario, Olympians get involved.

But for now your goal was to rest up and then go back to the surface to help Aizawa and Matsuda end this mess.

Before you could leave though, you and L felt a hand on your shoulders and when you turned you were met with the hall imposing primordial goddess herself, Nyx.

"May I speak with you, children?" She asked.

"Uh- ok? Sure" you replied.

"Thank you, do follow"

You and L followed behind her, down the halls of the house of hades to her office there. Nyx was a beautiful yet rather mystical being. She took the form of a humanoid so those around her could understand her, but some of her primordial features came through. She was the night herself and daughter of chaos, Devine creator.

Her hair was like a floating chunk of the night sky with stars and galaxies in it, her eyes like black holes with the whole Milky Way glistening in them. Stars spotted her cheeks, a trait her sleepy son also had. If you were to cut her, she'd not bleed blood, but star dust.

Nyx was the closest goddess to chaos themselves, and likely the closet anyone would ever get to fathoming what the god chaos looked like. You'd seen glimpses of chaos' realm, but never the god themselves. Barely anyone had.
