On the longest night of the year, everything will fall. That's what that message from the fates had said.
And tonight was the longest night of the year, you were expecting a certain someone coming through Styxx any moment now. Although things were a little different this time. Usually when souls come through Styx you just check them off the list and send them to hades, this time the mouth of the river that lead into the hall of the house of hades was being watched by not only you, but L, hades and Cerberus.
The three headed dog sat by the bloody water, one head up and watching, the others down and resting. L leaned against one for the heads giving it ear scritches. Even though Cerberus could rip you limb from limb, he was a big baby for those he liked and hades said were ok.
"It's gonna take all my willpower not to punch this man when he shows up" L sighed.
"Same, but honestly I just want to see the look on his face when he sees you again after thinking he could escape you" you replied.
Hades stood by the water, arms crossed and impatiently tapping his foot. He hated this man as much as you and L did for causing such a mess, he wanted this over with. Cerberus made his usual happy whine as L scratched his ear, the head that was watching Styx paying close attention to the water.
The happy puppy noises stopped when the middle head starts growling, the other two heads looking up and spotting movement in the waters. All three heads growled.
"Calm, boy. We know, we know" Hades said.
Cerberus sat back, looking protectively over the underworld god.
Just as expected, the latest shade broke to the surface coughing up the red waters of Styx. He took a moment for his vision to clear, looked around and then finally, turned to face the looming presence behind him.
"Miss me Light?" L snapped.
The killer was frozen for a moment. He was under the impression there was no afterlife, and yet here he was sitting in Styx before the man he killed, a shade who looked very protective over him, the literal god of the underworld and a giant three headed dog.
"Light Yagami, dies of a heart attack on the longest night of the year. Punished to Tartarus, nothing else to note" you teased, checking his name off your list.
"Are you going to say anything or just stand there in bloody water? Huh? Pathetic..." L snarled.
Even after death, Lights ego was still as big as ever. He furrowed his brow, stepped out of the river dripping wet and took a step toward L.
"You bastard of course YOU WERE-"
He was cut off, Cerberus leaning a head down next to L and growling at Light. The killer fell silent a stepped back.
"Yagami, you're aware you're dead correct?" Hades began.
Light turned to him, giving him a nasty glare.
"Apparently so... the death note said there was no afterlife" Light said.
"That was a trick, meant to deter people from using it. And yet, you did. And don't give me that tone mortal, you know full well who I am and the power I have" hades snapped.
Light looked like he was going to explode in anger, he wanted to lash out so bad. But the hell hound looming over him made him hold back. He didn't feel like becoming a chew toy.
"Your little stunt caused not only problems in the human realm, but the underworld has been overflowing with souls and behind on everything. There's not meant to be massive surges of deaths, a steady flow maintains balance between the living, dead and divine. You have caused more problems than your life is worth, and for your crimes... you're going straight to Tartarus" hades explained.
