It was funny how in life L wasn't exactly that good at the whole social thing. He never really had friends, and never had a lover. And yet as soon as he died and ended up in the underworld there was suddenly a whole group of people welcoming him with open arms and he'd become a member of the friendship circles that already existed.
He had you as a lover, Eurydice and Orpheus as helpful guides, his dad as... well still his dad. And even crazier to him, the affection of a few gods. While most of the gods he'd interacted with viewed him as a rather famous shade and nothing more, there was one that definitely took a closer liking to him. That being Hypnos.
He wasn't at all surprised he'd ended up in the cleaning pools with him again, since if Hypnos wasn't out with his mother or sleeping in his cave he was relaxing in a cleansing pool letting all the worried of the world drift away. He was the god of sleep after all, calm and tranquility was his whole thing. Not to mention cleansing pools were made with some of the water from Lethe which was HIS river. It flowed from his cave and he was the one that watched over it.
"See? All it takes is a moment if silence and floating in the warm waters for everything to melt away and tranquility to enter your mind"
Again, L found himself floating in the warm waters of the anti-stress cleansing pools with Hypnos keeping him afloat. He could really get used to this.
"If I didn't have to go back to the surface tomorrow I'd stay in here forever..." L sighed, the feeling of relaxation being the best feeling he'd ever have.
A lot of his life when he was alive was stress, and getting rid of it all in seconds was all he'd ever wanted.
"This concoction of Lethe water and lavender oils really does wonders" Hypnos replied.
L looked up at the god looking down at him. His long white, cloud like hair was pulled back into an elaborate platted ponytail done by his mother, and with the waters of the pool drenching it, it made his hair shine. L had always noticed a certain glow to Hypnos, maybe it was the clamming effect of sleep or maybe it was the fact the gods were so beautiful they'd make anyone question their sexuality.
"How's (y/n)? I haven't seen them in the house of hades recently. I assume they're with you" Hypnos asked.
"Good, I learnt that when they first died they drank from Lethe and lost all their memories. It made me sad to know someone I love so much felt the need to do that, but they told me that they'd made much better memories down here with me. So I guess things turned out ok" L explained.
"Some souls unfortunately aren't blessed with a calm and joyful life. I understand why people drink from Lethe as sad as it is. But hey, they said so themselves, they gave you to make memories with now" Hypnos replied.
"They also showed me an old forgotten corner of the underworld where primordial chaos is visible. It was so beautiful, but so complicated to my mere human mind that I couldn't really understand all of what I was seeing"
"Primordial Chaos is definitely confusing for humans. I've been there a few times, since chaos is basically my grandparent. It's a sight to behold but I'll admit even to me there's some confusing parts"
It was interesting how L got along with an ancient god and a shade from the 20s better than he ever got along with humans when he was alive. And the more he thought about how he'd gone from a human detective in Japan to floating in an underworld pool with sleep himself in such a short period of time made him both amazed and confused with himself.
"Hey... just out of curiosity, why do you take the time to talk to me. You're a god, I'm just a shade who died recently. I feel like I'm not worthy of such gifts" L asked.
