A/n: AHHH? Last chapter. I feel like I wrote this one really quickly for some reason. It is a little shorter than my other stories, maybe that's why. Don't worry though because the next L book won't be far behind!

It was calm in the underworld. Well, as calm as the underworld can be.

In the distance just across the river in Asphodel you could hear Orpheus and Eurydice playing their lyres and singing together. Earlier that day you'd watched Zagreus chase after Cerberus who'd taken one of his swords and run off with it like a puppy stealing a sock. Hades and Persephone were busy filing reports for all the Kira deaths, and sorting out the last few souls from the surge.

And you and L? You didn't have anything left to do. Now it was all up to you. You could spend as much time as you wanted just relaxing, or you could go work your usual check in job at the house of hades. You figured you'd take a little break, as you hadn't had one in months.

"Throw it over that branch, no the left one"

L tossed the rope of the hammock over the branch of the cherry tree by his chambers, that he now shared with you. You grabbed the end and pulled it as hard as you could to make sure the knot was tight.

"I suppose you'll want to plant fruits?" He asked, pulling his end of the rope.

"Yep, underworld fruits are yum. We can have our own little garden" you replied.

"I don't know anything about gardening, I'll leave the garden up to you"

Not much grew in the underworld, since it was a place of deaths. But some fruits and flowers thrived as they were the kind that needed darkness rather than light, or were sacred to a god and could grow anywhere.

"I hope this doesn't fall" you said, hesitating to sit on the hammock.

"It'll be fine, the knots look tight enough" L assured.

You leaned back into the hammock, and luckily it was tight enough to hold your weight. You pulled on L's chiton to make him lay beside you, which he gladly did. You both looked up at the roof of the underworld, cave like in structure extremely high up above you. Glowing moss kept it alight.

"What else should we put in the garden, I mean this whole area is your property we can do all kind of things with the space" you asked.

"Not sure actually, never really been one for exterior design... maybe a fountain or something, I'd say a bird feeder but... what birds live in the underworld?" L replied.

"Dead ones"

"Dead ones don't need to eat"

"Maybe not a bird feeder... but a fountain sounds good. We can connect it to the river so we've got a constant stream of water" you rambled.

It felt a little weird now that you didn't have to worry about the surface anymore, you'd gotten used to it. And the more time passed the less aware of the time you had. Was it day or night? Who knows. The only way to tell is if Nyx and Hypnos are gone for their nightly duties. But you also liked the calmness of it all, you can just wander around and do as you please now everything was over. Just like you were always meant to when you died and came here.

Of course that can be boring at times, that's why you got your job in the house of hades, to stay occupied. But right now you just wanted a break from everything.

The tranquil silence was cut when the familiar sound of funeral bells rang.

"That's Than" L commented.

Sure enough, the god of death appeared in his little green glow beside you. Although he had someone else with him this time.

"Hey Than... and- Ryuk?" You said, sitting up to face them.
