He was looking down at the last page of death note he had. All the others he'd ripped out had been covered, tiny writing covered both sides of each page to optimise space. But now he only had one page left.

"Damnit Takada, how do you loose the book?" Light groaned, trying to think of a way around his problem.

With no death note, there was no Kira. He was powerless without his silly little book. He knew Ryuk sure as hell wasn't going to give him any pages from his book and the ones in custody of the taskforce were too risky to try and steal. Rems old one she left behind and Misas were both locked away in taskforce and regularly monitored. If he tried to take them, or rip any pages out the taskforce would know. And he'd have cuffs slapped on him for sure.

Slamming his fist on the desk he let out an angry growl.

"Fuck- what the hell am I meant to do now? Should never have trusted Takada" he muttered.

"Light be angry somewhere else, it's midnight" Misa groaned, trying to get some sleep in the bed behind him.

"I'm trying to get us out of deep shit here Misa"

"You came into MY room. Just come to bed and get some sleep. Think about it with a clear head tomorrow"

Light turned in Misas office chair, her jacket covered in punk badged hung off the back and clicked when it moved. Light always looked very out of place in Misas gothed out room.

"Can you take this seriously? We have ONE page left Misa. There will be no Kira is we can't keep killing" he sighed in frustration.

"You shouldn't have gone and found other girls then" Misa replied, half asleep and still salty about Takada.

Light just glared at her and turned back to the page. He could write super small to use as much of the paper as possible, but that'd only last so long. It'd run out eventually.

"How the fuck did she even loose the book? It was locked in a drawer and suddenly it's gone? How does it just vanish until thin air?" He muttered, trying to make sense of the whole thing.

"Dunno maybe she dropped it by accident somewhere" Misa replied, wanting the concert over with so she could sleep.

"Unless... unless it wasn't lost. It was stolen..." light said.

He'd suddenly realised that the only way it could be 'lost' when it was accounted for all day up until nighttime was if someone came in and took the book. But who even knew about it, and how did Takada sleep through a breaking and entering? That didn't make any sense but it was the only way it could be 'lost' in that situation.

"Stolen? By who. L's ghost? No one knows about Takada or the book but us" Misa joked.

"Well clearly someone does. Maybe it was Aizawa... he has turned against us after all. But still how could he get it without waking Takada? And how did he know where it was?" Light pondered.

"Aizawa? He may be against us but he's been in taskforce literally all day for months. There's no way he'd even have the time to investigate Takada"

"When who the hell stole it then?!"

"I don't know! Go to sleep and think about it with a fresh mind, or get out of my room and let me sleep!" Misa replied.

Anyone could see their 'relationship' was getting rockier and rockier ever since Takada came into the picture. Misa was mad at light for what was basically cheating on her, but was too obsessed with him to let him go. Also she was the second Kira, so Light couldn't leave her even if he wanted too.

His whole plan was crumbling around him just because he managed to get the only book they had taken. He regretted trusting Takada, and letting the book out of his sight. But he was just as confused as to where the book went and how. Not to mention Misa was growing more and more sick of his shit, and they'd been arguing more and more. If she turned against him, he was fucked. If Takada turned against him, he was fucked. If he ran out of paper, he was fucked.

Either way, he was fucked. And he was in denial, still believing he was a god bound for success and that this was just 'a minor set back'.

"Ryuk I don't suppose you know anything?" Light asked.

If he was turning to Ryuks unhelpful ass he must be desperate.

"I have some theories but I don't know for sure. And you aren't getting them out of me, it's fun watching you suffer. No amount of apples is worth giving up this shit show" Ryuk replied with a chuckle.

"You're no help why do I even bother..?" Light sighed.

Ryuk knew full well that either you, L or one of the gods took the book. And he found the fact Light was bending over backwards trying to figure everything out while completely oblivious L was still involved from beyond the grave highly amusing. Weather he wanted to admit it or not, Light was slowly being cornered.

All that was needed was the rest of the taskforce to turn against him and then he'd have absolutely no way out. No leg to stand on, no backup plan. Ryuk could see this coming from a mile away and it was hilarious to him.

"Maybe Misas right, maybe it is L's ghost" he joked.

"Yeah right, the death note itself says there's no afterlife. L's gone for good" Light replied.

Ryuk snickered, the fact he was so wrong about that was amusing. L was probably chilling down in Elysium right now resting up for the next trip to the surface. He was probably having a better time than Light was, you know with a lavish set of chambers, god friends and a healthy relationship. All things Light would never get.

"What are you snickering at? Your jokes aren't funny you know" Light said.

"This whole situation honestly" Ryuk replied.

"Shut up..."

Suddenly a pillow hit the back of Lights head, and another went through Ryuk.

"LET ME SLEEP" Misa groaned, absolutely done with the boys shit.

"FINE! God so dramatic..." Light scoffed, taking his single paper and heading out to his own room.

"Wow... wonderful relationship" Ryuk laughed.

"You too punk paintbrush" Misa said.

"I'm going, I'm going. Don't let Hypnos give you nightmares"

Misa didn't think anything of the comment, barely even knowing why Hypnos was or that he was real. She just wanted to sleep. But Ryuk could help but loose his shit at the fact he'd been dropping hints this whole time and neither of them were picking up on any.

They were so fucked, this was going to be SO entertaining.
