What's a Black Bird without her Robin?
Black Birds run in the family. Dick had Grace. Jason had Estella. Tim had Rachel. Damian had Lorri.
He was obnoxious and rude. Made himself at home. Imposed on the delicate life you and Bruce had composed. And...

You and Damian continued to flirt and fawn over each other in the seat, until Dick cut in.
"Once again, we had it under control!"
"No, we didn't." You corrected him.
"Well, I don't need you two gettin' all handsy while I'm right here." Dick said as you both snickered. "Poor Bruce probably doesn't even know."
Damian settled with wrapping an arm around your shoulders, and you leaned into him.
"There's no way you two are gonna pull this off without my help." Damian stated.
"Modest as ever, I see."
"I'm more Batman than you'll ever be. Just follow my lead."
You scoffed. "Please. You can't pass for Batman even with a pair of stilts."
Damian grumbled.
The Batmobile beeped. You sat up.
"We're being tailed." Dick said.
"I can see that." You replied, looking into the review mirror. "Hit the gas."
The tires began to squeal as you all pulled off, and you jerked as Dick swerved the car. Damian held onto you, keeping you in place. Yet the motorcycle behind you persisted.
"Shit." You muttered. "It's Batwoman."
"Who's Batwoman?"
"A pain in my ass." You replied to both the boys. "Shake her, Grayson! I don't need this right now!"
"I can't!" He yelled back.
"Fuck." You muttered. "Pull over in that alleyway! I'll give her a talk."
Dick swerved at your command, and you all hopped out of the car. Bat Woman soon joined you.
"You've been tracking me all night." Batman hissed. "I wanna know why."
You facepalmed.
"First, tell me why you're running around Gotham playing dress-up." Batwoman looked to you. "Black Bird."
"Get lost. I have it under control."
She smirked. "I'm guessing Nightwing?"
"Hmm! Busted." Robin smirked.
"Actually, I think he's capable of fooling most people. Good call, Birdy." You rolled your eyes as Batwoman continued. "And you're certainly not gonna pass for Batman, short stack."
"Who the hell are you?"
"Boys, meet Batwoman." You muttered. "A royal pain in both I and the real Batman's asses."
"Easy, Birdy." Nightwing smirked, before turning back to Batwoman. "Tell me what you want and why you've been following me."
"I just had to make sure. You see, I was there the night Batman died."
Batwoman led you to the place she claimed Batman had died. It was the closest thing to a clue you got. You took it.
"So before you could get back up here?.." You asked.
"The whole place exploded."
"And we're just supposed to believe that?" Robin asked.
"Believe what you want." Batwoman spat.
"I don't trust her." Robin growled.
"Oh, but you did trust Talon." Nightwing reminded him.
"Shut it, you two." You hissed. "Who was it, Batwoman? Who were Tusk and Firefly working for?"
"I don't know." She turned to you. "But when I find out, I'll drop a note in your lunchbox."
"Says the woman who wears our symbol, but refuses us. I ought to rip that bat off your shirt right here and now, and leave you here in shame." You bit back, venom in your voice. You turned on your heel. "Move it, boys!" You ordered.
"You really have a way with women, Grayson." Robin muttered, just out of your earshot.
"Like you can talk."
You all got back in the Batmobile, and drove off. Silence lingered in the car.
"Do you think he's really dead?" Robin asked.
"Do you?" You responded, and he looked down.
"You'd like it, wouldn't you, Grayson?... If he never came back." He turned to look at Nightwing. "Then you get to keep that suit."
Nightwing his the brakes, and the Batmobile came to a screeching stop.
"I've struggled for years to get out of Bruce's shadow, to build a life for myself as far away from his world as possible, and to get Lorri out of that psychopath's house too! So believe me, the last thing I want is to be wearing this damn thing!"
The Batmobile beeped.
"Um..." Alfred began, clearing his throat. "I've finally managed to locate Master Bruce's files on Batwoman."
"How come I never heard of her?" Robin asked.
"She's kept a low profile up until now." You replied.
"Not low enough for Batman, I'll bet." Nightwing muttered.
"No."
Alfred hit play on the video.
"Investigative report on Batwoman, AKA Katherine Kane."
"Katy?" Nightwing asked.
"You know her?" Robin turned to him.
"Her father is Colonel Jacob Kane. Military intelligence. On Katherine's 12th birthday, she and her twin sister Elizabeth were abducted, along with their mother, Gabrielle, and held for ransom. Colonel Kane led a rescue mission that saved Kate's life. But in the attempt, both Gabrielle and Elizabeth were murdered.
"She would follow in her father's footsteps, enrolling at West Point, but ultimately expelled. Something broke inside Kate. Two years later, Katherine emerged on Batwoman. She's impressive, but her methods make her a danger to this city, and herself.
"Black Bird had a run in with her about a week ago, leaving both her and Katherine heavily injured. It's time for me to decide if I'm going to take her under my wing, or take her down."
"Anyone mind filling me in?" Robin asked. "How do you know her?"
"I just do."
You remained silent as the Batmobile took off again.
What did Dick mean, 'get Lorri out of that psychopaths house?' How long had he been asking Bruce for you to join his stupid little team. Better question, how long could you stay in Gotham with Bruce gone?
