"Imagine being Captain America's first kiss, sounds amazing isn't it?" Peggy teased after Evelyn told her the last conversation that she had with Steve without including the part that she told him she was a Russian spy
"shut up. I think it sounds bad because he's Bucky's bestfriend" Evy replied before taking a sip of her coffee "barnes is just happy that his friend finally got his first kiss trust me" Peggy joked
"how's howard?" Peggy asked making her eyebrows raise "why are you asking me that, shouldn't-"
"I meant how's everything going on with you and Howard, stupid" Evy shook her head smiling after realizing what she meant "he's great. He brings me flowers almost every day, he's sweet, funny and mostly annoying but he is k-"
"what?" she asked looking at Peggy who's smiling widely at her "your falling for him" Evy only rolled her eyes "of course not, I just answered your question"
"Miss Evelyn Natalia Lenoir, you are falling in love" peggy grinned at her
"Shut up Peg, I'm not"
"yes you are. You go out with him every single day, he brings you flowers a-"
"he doesn't bring me flowers everyday"
"I don't b-"
their conversation were cut off by a car horning outside the diner making both of their head turn to see Howard getting out of his car "I'll see you tomorrow" Evy announced standing up and kissing Peggy's cheek goodbye while Peggy only responds by smirking at her
"lover?" Angie asked when Evy went pass her "friend" she replied smiling "suitor" Peggy yelled from her table making Evy's eyes roll
"Good evening" Howard greeted opening the passenger's door for her "good morning" she replied getting inside earning a small chuckle from him. After he went back inside, he leaned back to his seat reaching for something from the backseat
"Evy" Howard called making her head turn towards him "yeah?" she asked. He send her a smile before handing her the bouquet of pink tulips "are you planning to turn my house into a whole flower shop?" she asked taking it
"oh you love it" he smirked driving "I do" she quietly said smiling while she admires the tulips

"so" Evy spoke looking at him while he eats his cheeseburger "so?" he repeated chewing "how was your day?" she asked. He slowly placed his cheeseburger down and pressed his lips together trying to prevent himself from smiling "howard?" she called
"yeah, sorry I just zoomed out"
"why are you smiling like that?"
"like what?"
"like an idiot"
"nothing"
Evy rolled her eyes again "can you stop rolling your eyes? its bothering the hell out of me" he said making her do it again "Evelyn" he groaned making her chuckle "maybe if you'd stop being annoying I will"
"annoying? I'm not annoying" he said defending himself "you are being one right now" she joked "seriously?" he asked glaring at her "okay I'm kidding" she chuckled making him smile
"so how's your day" she repeated "it went great other than the fact that I haven't find Ste... him" he paused earning a slight nod from her. His heart ached seeing how her smile drop on the almost mention of Steve's name
"but yeah it went amazing and I enjoyed a delicious lunch at house because of Ana, you have to try her steak it's the best one I've ever had and- oh! her honey garlic chicken? the best dish I ever had it's literally t-"
"what?" he asked seeing her smiling at him "you look adorable blabbering about Ana's amazing cookings" Howard's cheeks turn into a shade of red with a small smile on his lips this woman never fails to make him blush and he loves it "your doing it again"
"doing what?" he asked her "smiling like an idiot and your blushing by the way" she replied grinning "you know what, let's just ask each other questions"
"about?" she asked with raised eyebrows "anything, if we don't answer the question then" he grinned opening the wine bottle in front of them and filling each other's glass "really?" she asked rolling her eyes making him do the same
"why, are you scared?" he teased "honey look who your talking to" she replied cheekily "are you ready?" he smirked "are you?" she smirked back
"why were you smiling like an idiot?" she asked making his head shake "because you asked me about how my day was and it made me feel better" he said smiling "but why?" she asked again "no one really ask me about my day so" he shrugged
"what's your favorite memory as a child?" he asked. Her smile slowly dropped but she quickly hide it by taking a sip on her glass "now I'm confused" he said leaning towards her on the table "I really didn't had fun memories as a kid"
"strick parents?" he smiled "kind of" she lied smiling. They both nod while Evy thinks of a question "what's the most embarrassing thing you ever done while doing sex?" she grinned making him shake his head and drink "must've been very embarrassing" she laughed
"what's your biggest fear?" he asked looking at her making Evy shift on her seat "you can just drink, you don't have to answer that o-"
"I have a fear of being alone" she quietly said while playing with the tissue on her hand. Howard's heart broke realizing that she might've had a traumatic past that she's not ready to share
Silence filled the air so she looked back up at him to send him a small smile telling him that she's okay seeing how worried his face looked. Howard stood up from his seat making her look at him confused
He sat next to her and pulled her into a hug making her eyebrows raise in confusion "you will always have me" he mumbled. Evy wrapped her arms around him with a small smile on her lips as she nods
"you'll never be alone, I promise you that" he said before placing a kiss on her head making Evy's heart melt "thank you, that means so much" she softly said
Both of them stayed together in each other's arms for a good minute. Evy felt nothing but safe and home. That's the time she realized that she is in love with him
