Dooley let's out a small laugh seeing daniel looking out on the bullpen from his office while he kept bouncing his feet "look at this boy" he mumbled to himself after glancing at where he's looking to see Evy who's cleaning her desk and ready to leave in a minute
"do it now Sousa" Dooley spoke "what?" daniel turned to him counfused "come on son, you've been staring at her for minutes now. There's no harm in asking her for some drinks" Dooley smiled
"I have asked her, I just don't know if she's still up for it" daniel chuckled nervously "it's Lenoir, you can always trust her words. It's now or never Sousa" Daniel shook his head and stood up "thanks chief" he smiled leaving his office
Evy was closing the drawers of her desk when daniel decided to walk towards her "hey evy" he greeted with a nervous smile that evy immediately notice but decided not to say anthing about it "hi daniel" she smiled at him "I was just wondering if you're still up for the coffee" he asked scratching the back of his head
"of course, I was actually wondering where you went a few minutes ago" she responds with a huge smile. Daniel let's out a breath and smiled back at her "I was just with chief, are you ready to leave?" he asked
"yeah, just give me a minute" he nodded taking a few steps back. She grabbed her coat and purse before making her way to the Chief's office "I'll get going" she said opening the door "have fun, stop making the man so nervous" he grinned
"what? I didn't even do anything" she said confused "being around you makes this boys nervous Lenoir, you know that yourselfm. Calm him down a bit, poor boy has been so nervous in here minutes ago to approach you" Evy let's out a laugh and shook her head "I'll do that. Goodnight" Dooley nods his head before she left his office and made her way back to daniel
"you ready?" Evy asked "lead the way" he stepped back making her smile as she walked out of thw bullpen with daniel behind her
Dooley was watching the two from his office window with a grin on his face "who would have thought that Sousa has more guts than Thompson" he mumbled to himself

"now I feel bad for laughing" Evy chuckled as they both got out from the diner "oh don't be, it is really funny" daniel smiled at her "you know, I thought you were more of a black coffee type of person" he said looking at her
"nope, I prefer hot chocolate more than anything. I like it simple" she said taking a sip of her hot chocolate "you are indeed full of surprises" she smiled and shook her head "oh honey, you won't want to know the other surprises about me anymore"
"we'll see about that" he smiled at her before they kept walking. Daniel let's out a breath hesitating for a moment if he would put an arm around her. Shaking his head out of his thoughts, he slowly placed a hand on her back while they walk side by side
evy glanced at him seeing the nervous look on his face. such a gentleman. She gave him a smile assuring him that it's okay making daniel smile back
As they were walking, he noticed that she looks around everywhere to admire the city "you love late night walks?" he asked also looking around "yeah, I do" she smiled "it reminds me so much of how beautiful this city used to be before the war" she added
"I mean it's still beautiful but it's just not the same" Daniel looked at her and nods his head in agreement "just like it's peoples"
Evy sighed "just like it's peoples" she repeated with a sad smile "I've read your file, I know what it feels like to lose those that was really close to you"
"we weren't just close, they were my everything. They are the only ones that I have during the war and also peggy"
"I'm really sorry, they both gave their lives for this country, we are all lucky to have them" Daniel said in a comforting manner
"trading lives for freedom, that's what we're all supposed to do but unfortunately two lives were taken from me for the freedom of this county"
Evy let's out a sigh before shaking her head chuckling "God must hate me" she mumbled Daniel looked at her before pulling her into a hug without any hesitation "no he doesn't evy, you were just unlucky" he mumbled rubbing her back
evy wrapped her arms around him and shook her head "I've never been lucky" Daniel has no idea what evy have gone through but hearing those words from her made him realise that she didn't just lost her loved ones, there's more that she lost or maybe more worst things that she have gone through
"thank you so much daniel" she smiled pulling away from him "it's nothing" he smiled back "it means a lot to me, it really does" he smiled pulling her into a side hug "You're literally an amazing person, thank you" daniel turned at his side to hide his huge smile after hearing a compliment from Evy but she already saw his cheeks turning red
"now don't hide that huge smile" she teased making him laugh "oh shut up evy"
