Klarissa's POV
~1 week later~

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" I asked as he picked up his gun and a few magazines of bullets. "Promise you'll come back."

"Yes, of course I will." he said people started to file past him and out the door behind us. "I'm going to try and make it home for dinner."

This is the first time he's going to be away from me since we got back. I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of anxiety. I know I was going to have to let him go at some point, but I just didn't think it would be this soon.

"Okay." I said nervously as I spun my ring on my left hand. "Be careful."

He gave me a small smile before he put his hands on my cheeks and planted a small kiss on my lips.

I then reached over his shoulders, being extra careful with his neck, and hugged him tight.

"Lorenzo we've got to get going." Ricco said as he cleared his throat at the door.

"We can't be late to this meeting." Angelo added as I pulled away from him.

"I'll be right out." Lorenzo said as he turned to them.

They nodded and turned and went out to the car.

"Bye baby." he said as he let go of me. "I love you."

"I love you too." I said as I watched him walk through the door and close it behind him.

Walking over to the window, I watched as he got into the car and drove away from the driveway. He was finally gone.

While he was gone, I tried my best to busy myself. I caught up with my sister on the phone and spent some quality time with Gianna.

With everything that had been going on, I hadn't even realized how big Aria had gotten. With Gianna's help she's now able to sort of walk and move around. She's beyond cute and I couldn't help but be a little jealous of how Gianna always has someone to be with. Just like Lorenzo, Ricco is gone a lot and doesn't spend much time with Gianna. Since she has a baby, it doesn't seem like she has time to miss him. All her energy goes into raising their daughter.

Patiently I waited for my husband to come back home to me. Soon the hours started to slip by with absolutely no sign of him.

It was long past dinner now and I haven't heard one word from Lorenzo all night. I was starting to get beyond worried. Moving into the living room, I decided I would just wait for him here. I was just close enough to the door that I could hear him when he would come in.

Two more hours pasted and there was still nothing. I had texted him a few times and he didn't respond to any of my messages. Looking at the clock, I saw it to be almost 2:30 am. He's known to be out this late doing business, but that was before everything happened. He promised he was going to be back around dinner.

It was around 3 am when the door finally opened. Relief and annoyance came over me when I heard his tired voice talking to his brothers.

I got off the couch and went over to the front door. As soon as they saw me, they went quiet and they left me alone with Lorenzo.

"Where have you been?" I asked in a shaky tone. "I've been trying to reach you all night and you didn't even have the decency to text me back."

"I just figured you were going to be asleep." he said as he put his jacket on the rack.

"You said you were going to be home for dinner." I challenged. "Why didn't you tell me you weren't going to be in till later?"

"Klarissa you know how work goes." he said back with exasperation as he walked towards the kitchen. "All that matters is that I'm here now."
