~ Chapter Seven ~

~ (y/n)'s POV ~

After taking a few moments to process what all had just happened in the past few minutes, I realized that the apartment was still on fire! I willed myself to stand up and activated my quirk. I shot high pressure jet streams of water out of my hands to put the fires out.

After I finished putting out all of the fires, I almost passed out from the dehydration, but my body unconsciously ran to the bathroom where I threw up in the toilet.

I really need to start carrying a water bottle with me everywhere I go to prevent myself from getting dehydrated like this!

After I cleaned myself up, and dressed my wounds as best as I could, I looked in the mirror, and saw that the strip of fabric I wrapped around my head was dripping with my blood. Now that I think of it, I should probably clean this wound as well.

I took a few deep breaths, mentally preparing myself for what I was about to see, when I hear a voice in the next room shout, "Hey! Is there anyone in this apartment?"

I froze for a second in shock of how sudden the voice was, and timidly exited the bathroom and saw two pros with a few police officers with guns in hand. They must've saw me, because the police pointed their guns in my direction, which startled me enough to put my hands in the air.

"P-please! D-don't shoot!" I shakily asked.

I squeezed my eye shut, waiting for something, anything, to happen, when I hear on of the officers mention, "Hey guys? Isn't that Endeavors kid, (y/n) Todoroki?"

I heard the men all hum in agreement, so I opened my eye, and slowly put my hands back down. 

One of the pros came up to me and placed his hand on my shoulder, "Hey, from what I understand, you're quite a long ways from home. Mind telling us why?"

"My brother and I snuck out of our house at an unruly hour, and we rode his motorcycle, which he bought secretly by the way, all the way out here to practice my quirk, illegally. We ended up getting caught in the midst of a villain attack, and my brother killed three people and willingly went with the villains, leaving his five year old sister alone to fend for herself! Oh, and I also got pretty injured."

I obviously didn't say that! I'm not stupid! So instead, I said this...

"w-well, um...I ran away from home and ended up getting in the middle of a villain fight..." I lied with a tremor in my voice.

The pro looked me up and down, "Are you alright? Do you have any severe injuries?" he asked.

I rolled my eye to the sky and scoffed, "What do you think?" I asked, showing off the gashes on my limbs and torso, continuing to point to my eye.

"O-oh! Sorry! Kinda habit to ask these questions!" he sheepishly admitted.

I smiled a bit, nut it quickly faded when an officer, came up beside the Pro Hero and asked me a question, "Hey kid! Do you by any chance know your dad's number? We need it to let him know that we're taking you to the hospital."

I looked down at my feet, and started to play with the rim of my bloodstained nightgown, "I don't know his," I lied, "But I do know my mom's!" I suggested.

The officer nodded, taking out his phone. I sighed, and told him my mom's phone number.

After a few seconds of ringing, she picked up and the officer put his phone on speaker.

"This is *yawn* Rei Todoroki speaking. If I may ask who I'm speaking to?" She drowsily asked.

"Ma'am, we are Pro heroes 'Flashlite' and 'Hydra' with the police." Flashlite stated.

I heard some things crash in the background before she responded, "Th-the Police? and Heroes?" She frantically asked.

"Yes Ma'am..." One of the officers sighed.

"W-why are you calling me? Was it for the ticket I got last week? Because I'll have you know that I-"

"Ma'am, I don't know if you're aware or not, but your daughter ran away from home last night and was caught up in a villain attack. We are taking her to the hospital right now to properly treat her wounds." Flashlite explained.

The line went silent for a minute or two before she started to talk again, "Is she gonna be alright? Please tell me that my baby will be okay!" She frantically shouted into the phone.

"Most of them are superficial and will heal on their own, but some need stitches. She seems to have a pretty severe wound on her left eye as well..." He explained while examining me.

"O-oh my God..." She whispered.

The line went silent for a moment before she hung up without another word. I looked around at the adults who shared the same puzzled look I did.

"Well," Flashlite started, offering his hand out to me, "Let's get you to that hospital!"

~ Rei's POV ~

After I got the call from the police and Heroes, I just fell to my knees in a fit of sobs. My youngest had ran away in the middle of the night and was injured by some villains...and I didn't even have a damn clue!

Aren't mother's supposed to have a special sense that tells them when their child is in danger? When something bad happens to their baby, aren't they supposed to know?

I just sat there in the floor of my bathroom, running my fingers through my hair in frustration, sobbing angrily at myself for letting this happen.

I hear the bathroom door creak open, and I turn to see Fuyumi and Natsu with worried looks plastered on their faces, while Shoto was still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, but I could tell that he was still a bit concerned.

"Mom? What's-"

"Get in the car, now!" I ordered my children.

I started to storm out of the bathroom in a worried rage, when I hear Natsu behind me, "But mom? Why are we-"

"Because, Natsu! (y/n) ran away in the middle of the night, and due to my obliviousness to this fact, she was caught up in a villain fight, and is now in the fucking hospital because of it! Now all three of you better get your asses in that car!" I burst, rendering my children speechless.

I took a few deep breaths, "Look, I'm sorry for yelling! But your sister, my baby, is in the hospital right now, and we need to be there with her! So let's go..."
