Mckenzie's POV

I was sitting outside reading a book, when Ben came running over. "Mckenzie! I need your help!" He yelled, as he stumbled to a stop. I quickly put my book down, catching him before he face planted. "Clearly." I laughed. I helped him stand up straight before sitting back down.

"What's wrong? I heard shouting!" Carlos yelled, as he rushed out of the house, Dude trailing behind him. "Where's the intruder? The only thing I passed in obedience class was how to attack!" Dude shouted. "Oh, Dude." I laughed, picking him up. Carlos then stopped looking between me and Ben confused. "Uh...what's going on?" He asked. "No clue. I was wondering the same thing. He just came out of nowhere screaming for my help." I said, walking over and wrapping my free arm around Carlos' waist.

"I...I need...Sorry. I don't remember the last time I ran that much." Ben said, panting. Dude laughed. "I always thought you ran like a fat duck!" He said. "Dude." Carlos hissed, giving the dog a look. "Did you run all the way from the castle?" I asked. Ben nodded. "Something like that." He said. "What the hell is so important that you ran 20 miles?" Carlos asked.

Ben held up a finger as he took in a deep breath. "This." Ben said, pulling out a small blue box. Carlos and I gave him a confused look. "It's a ring box." He said opening it, to reveal absolutely nothing. "Then where's the ring?" I asked.

"That's what I need your help with. I want to propose to Mal but I want your help choosing the ring." he said, closing the empty box and putting it back in his pocket. "She likes purple, but I thought you knew that." I teased.

"Ha ha. I mean, I want your help choosing which ring to get. I have a few options." Ben said, as he pulled out his phone. I let go of Carlos, handing him Dude as I walked over to see what options Ben had. He showed me five different photos. "May I?" I asked, gesturing to his phone.

"Yeah." Ben said, handing me his phone. I swiped through the photos, stopping when I found the perfect one. "This one." I smiled, handing Ben his phone. "That one was in my top three." He said. "Really?" I asked, giving him a look. "No, not at all. I don't even have a top three. I liked them all." Ben said. I shook my head with a laugh.

"So, when are you proposing?" Carlos asked, walking over to us, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer. "I was thinking when you guys go pick up the children, in a few days." Ben said. Carlos and I nodded. "Um, actually, could you help me with one more thing?" Ben asked. "Yeah, sure. What is it?" I asked. Ben just smirked. "Oh god. Maybe I shouldn't have said yes." I muttered, before Ben started pulling me away, towards the castle.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. I am not walking nor running 20 miles in these shoes. We're taking my car." I said, leading Ben towards the garage. I could hear Carlos laughing as he and Dude walked back into the house.

"Okay, Mal's at Evie's so we should have about two hours before she's back." Ben said, as we walked into the castle. "Um...what exactly are we doing?" I asked. "I need your help planning how I'm going to propose." He said.

"Okay, that's not as bad as what I thought you were going to ask." I laughed. "What did you think I was going to ask?" Ben questioned. "Nothing." I said, shrugging it off. "Anyways, what if you had Doug play the guitar while you sing a verse from, oh what was it called...oh! Did I mention." I suggested. "That's a good idea. But what verse?" He asked. I smiled. "Got any paper?" I asked.
