Once in the city of Yueyang the three walked among the busy crowd.

Suddenly Lan Wangji asked, "how's the curse mark?"

Wei Wuxian replied, "Jin Ling was buried too close to our hood buddy at the time, so he got stained by quite a bit of resentment. It's faded a bit but not entirely. We'll probably have to find the complete corpse, or at the very least the head, before I can think of a way to get rid of it once and for all. But it's not an issue."

"Wei Wuxian are you sure? That body of yours is quite weak. You could transfer it me if you need." Lan Tian eyed the man as they weaved through the crowd.

"Do you actually care about me now?" Wei Wuxian was taken aback by the sudden new tone of Lan Tian.

With a scoff Lan Tian replied, "Of course not! I just don't want to have to carry your limp body around."

Ignoring Lan Tian completely Lan Wangji asked, "How little is a little?"

"A little is a little. How do I explain it? Do you want me to strip to show you.?"

Lan Wangji's brows twitched slightly, "Strip after we return."

After that Lan Tian blocked out his two elders and their concerning conversation. After all they had more important things to worry about. The other day on one of his travels, Lan Tian came across a salesman and some books talking about the story of the Yiling Patriarch. When they read about the demonic arts he couldn't help but think of all the times he'd done something similar, and yet reading it all seemed so familiar.

Then upon further reading, Lan Tian found the story of how We Wuxian was thrown into the burial grounds and then came out all powerful. Naturally he was curious but he also thought, why not go and check it out? What's the worst that can happen? Maybe I'll finally get some answers to the question of why I've always felt a strong pull from the demonic arts and a connection with Wei Wuxian. The only problem was getting there.

"How should information be sought?" Lan Wangji asked Wei Wuxian.

Confused and tuning back in, Lan Tian glance to where Wei Wuxian was pointing.

"You're taking us to a drinking place, really?" Lan Tian side eyed Wei Wuxian before following begrudgingly.

Wei Wuxian said seriously, "The waiters in places like this are usually young and sharpwitted, fast and efficient. And since there are many customers everyday, talk runs rampant. Word of strange occurrences never escapes their eyes and ears."

Lan Tian looked to his Dad, "I'm gonna go look around and talk it people on the street. I'll see you in a bit." With a nod Lan Wangji let Lan Tian go and explore the area.

After an hour of talking and exploring, Lan Tian and the two elders all came to the same conclusion of something weird going on that had to do with the Chang clan extermination. All members does horrible deaths and many believed it was Wei Wuxian's doing in his past life.

The three finally went off to find out exactly what happened.

"It wasn't you right, Wei Wuxian?" Lan Tian lazily looked up at the man.

Before he could respond Lan Wangji chimed in, "It was not him." The other two nodded and Lan Tian stared into the vast distance. "You did not kill them, but it's related to you."

"Oh I remember now, wasn't it something to do with Wei Wuxian's mother?" Lan Wangji nodded.

Lan Wangji stopped, then turned around to meet Wei Wuxian's gaze. "Have you ever heard of one named Xiao Xingchen?"

Wei Wuxian thought then responded, "No."

"It was twelve years ago when he emerged from the mountains and achieved fame. And now there are none who speak of him." Lan Wangji said.

After explaining it all to Wei Wuxian and Lan Tian only payed attention for the end of it.

"He was the Jin Clan's guest cultivator?" Wei Wuxian asked. "The Jin Clan of Lanling should've ranked as one of the four major clans by then, right? Why in it a little thug to be a guest cultivator?"

"This is the second connection." Lan Wangji said. H stared intently at Wei Wuxian's eyes and continued, slowly, "It was because of the Yin Tiger Tally."

Wei Wuxian's heart violently lurched, then his eyes instinctively shifted over to Lan Tian. He had a theory but was t sure if he was right, and for the kid's sake, he hoped he was wrong.

When Wei Wuxian tried to destroy the Tiger Tally he couldn't, so he hid one in a place no one would think and the other in one of the safest places he could. However, somehow this Xue Yang had been able to find half of it and reverse engineer the second half. Sure it wasn't as strong as the original but it could still do some terrifying damage.

As Lan Wangji told him all about Xue Yang and the Chang Clan of Yueyang, Lan Tian couldn't help but think of the discipline whip scars on theirs and their Dad's back. He knew that his Dad had it worse and there was probably a time when he wasn't allowed to leave the Recess, and that it was probably something due to him. No wonder he mentioned that he only heard rumours of it, Lan Tian heard the same ones growing up.

Lan Tian also couldn't help but particularly blame Wei Wuxian for all of this. After all he did make the Tiger Tally, and he left their Dad alone. He knew great there was some sort of chemistry between the two, and that if Wei Wuxian lived he would probably have helped raise them as another father or uncle.
