Lan Wangji could hear the faint cries of a child in the distance and went to interrogate. To his surprise a small basket barely big enough to fit two jars of the Emperor's Smile that Wei Wuxian loved so much. As he approached the crying got louder and his heart broke. Someone had left their new born baby at his door. He couldn't help but think 'who would dump their child on a stranger's door step?' Now that he thought about it, who could? No one that he knew of who lived in the Cloud Recesses would, and who else could get in there?

He could only think of one mischievous rule breaker that could get in, and if he did... what was his reason? Lan Wangji quickly glanced around for a familiar figure in black and red but only caught a glimpse of a red ribbon dancing in the wind attached to a tree branch. He walked over still looking around, he wouldn't have gone far, would he? Maybe he could still reach him... the loud cries of the child brought him back into his thoughts.

First thing was first, he had to make sure the child was safe and healthy. He brought the child into his room and made sure to close all ways of seeing into the room.

However, Lan Wangji's thoughts kept racing, "Who's child was it exactly?", "Are they Wei Wuxian's biological child?", "Does Wei Wuxian have a lover?", "Why him?", and "Why now?" Were all repeating thoughts in his head.

He quickly found a letter and began scanning it for relevant information. All it said was "My name is Tian. I have no surname. Please take care of me for Wei-gongzi."

"Wangji, it's time to go... is that a child? Did you steal a child because you couldn't bring that person back with you here?" Lan Xichen walked into the room quickly closing the door behind him. "What are you doing?"

"I... I don't know." Lan Wangji picked up the chlid in his arms, "She's so tiny. Too tiny." He looked up at his brother before putting Tian back down.

"What's her name?" Lan Xichen asked pulling a younger female cultivator into the room.

Lan Wangji thought for a moment, "Lan Tian. She's my daughter now."

Lan Xichen nodded and asked the female cultivator to take care of her while they were gone. "Wangji, I promise she'll still be here when we come back... we just need to find a way to explain this to... everyone."

"I know." Was all he said following Lan Xichen and reluctantly giving Lan Tian to the cultivator.

When Lan Xichen got back to the Recesses he went straight to Lan Wangji's room and grabbed Lan Tian from the cultivator. He knew Lan Wangji would not be coming back today after he ran off with Wei Wuxian. He quickly set up a small nursery in Lan Wangji and his room before asking some of the other people he knew with children for help. Within a few hours they had put Lan Tian to sleep and began planning a way to explain Wangji's absence and the sudden appearance of a child.

The more he thought about how these responsibilities were thrown onto him with the sudden disappearance of Lan Tian's father and his brother, Lan Xichen couldn't help but feel empathy for Jiang Chen as he was probably in a similar position. Although, at least Lan Wangji was still alive and would come back, Jin Ling's parents however would not. Honestly, he felt so much sympathy for those two children. He had a suspicion that this child came from Wei Wuxian and thus both Jin Ling and Lan Tian had both lost their parents and will never know their biological parents.

These two were just a few member of the new generation to come and he knew that if they could make it through this, then they might just be the strongest generation yet.

Official Announcement Via Lan Wangji's were abouts and rumors regarding a child

Lan Wangji was out on patrol and found a child abandoned in a desecrated building with no parents insight. Lan Wangji decided to take in this child and raise them as his own. No personal information can be shared about the child. Their name is Lan Tian and they are under 3 months old. They are in good health and congratulations are in order for the healthy new child and their father Lan Wangji.

Lan Wangji is currently out trying to find the parents of Lan Tian to hopefully reunite them if possible or give future closure to Lan Tian.
