the sounds of the waves crashed into each other as Caroline sat on the sand watching the sun rise. it had only been a few days since she and her friends arrived at the island that they all now call Pougelandia. it was peaceful. beautiful. what more could she ask for? her eyes watched the ocean when she heard the sand crunching behind her. turning her head, Caroline saw half asleep JJ approaching her plopping down besides her wrapping his arms around her waist pulling her towards him.
"why are you out here so early?" he muttered kissing her shoulder.
"couldn't fall back asleep." she says as his blonde hair tickles her neck.
"little tough sleeping on the sand huh?" he asked earning a small laugh from her.
"no it's fine. what are you doing up?" she asked looking at him, he shrugged keeping his eyes on the water.
"didn't feel you next to me so i came lookin' for you." he turned his head to her smiling at her.
Caroline knew that smile that JJ had on his face way too well, "you have that smile on your face."
"what smile?" he stood up taking his shirt off tossing holding his hand out, Caroline grinned taking his hand as he pulled her up.
"trust me?"
"always."
next thing Caroline knew, JJ picked her up from the ground wrapping one arm around his waist keeping his other arm under her thighs running towards the water, Caroline laughed wrapping her arms around his neck feeling the splashes of the water hit her legs as JJ threw them both down into the water. once under Caroline still held onto him as he kept his arms around her pulling them back up from the water.
"that's a way to wake you up." JJ laughed moving pieces of Caroline's hair out of her face.
Caroline laughed hearing cheers from her friends. she turned her head seeing the rest of the Pogues running over towards the water. JJ set her down laughing at Pope who was running to the water throwing himself in as Kiara ran straight towards Caroline jumping into her arms.
the morning was filled with laughter and splashing until they eventually got tired and went on a hunt to find stuff for breakfast.

more days had passed and things were still calm, it was strange for the Pogues because something was always happening. it reminded Caroline of their past summers before the gold hunt, just being around each other and staying at the beach for hours to surf. JJ laid besides Caroline with his arm over his eyes covering the sun. she rested her head on his chest facing him as he removed his arm looking over at her.
"hey." he smiled lightly scratching her head.
"hi." she smiled laying on her stomach resting her chin on his chest.
"what should we do today?" he asked her tracing the shape of her eyebrow.
"explore time?" since they had arrived at the island neither of them have really left their spot, only to find food and that was it.
"little island date?" he grinned at her.
the two quickly got up grabbing their shoes slipping them on, JJ grabbed Caroline's hand yelling to their friends that they'll be back later on not giving them a chance to say anything back as the couple already ran off.
there really wasn't much to do on the island, but JJ and Caroline always found a way to make their stay eventful. even if it was just walking down the beach or sitting in their little tent that he had built for the two their first night on the island. Caroline had always wondered what it would be like to spend the rest of her life with JJ and if it was anything like this? she couldn't wait for her future with him as cheesy as it sounded.
JJ pulled Caroline towards him wrapping his arm around her shoulder kissing her cheek over and over again until she laughed as they walked through the island. she wondered how things would be when they returned to OBX but that was the last thing Caroline wanted to worry about until she was actually on her way back home.
she missed her family. she wondered how her parents and little brother were doing. but little did Caroline and her friends know, everything was gonna happen a lot faster than she had thought.

Caroline's story isn't gonna end just yet. i have decided to make a new book for Caroline & JJ with season 3 approaching in just a few weeks and i cannot wait to start writing.
